Yesterday locket just turned fourteen, and was considered more capable. When he was younger he wanted to be older, learn to use a canoe, and handle a net when fishing. But now he grew to dread it, turns out not everyone gets to go canoeing out. Locket would slide his flimsy sandals on, a proper wooden rod slung over his back, a pouch filled with bait was on his waist. He was standing at the dock with a few other people with similar equipment. In front of them was a equally flimsy wooden dingy. "Come on, remember what they said, get in slowly and carefully" one tabaxi said to the group. In total there were five. One fisher was a proper adult, the rest were ranging from 14-16. Locket would give a simple nod as they filed onto the dingy. He hated the rowing part, in a canoe rowing was easier and faster. But on a dingy it sucked. The group rowed away from the village, and into the open waters. "Watch your catches, HE might try to take it" one of his peers said, his antics of stealing had spread around the village. Mostly to the children his age. "Relax, you'll only catch snappers and minnows" he muttered as he put some bait on his rod, the others did too. And soon the fishing began. The peers would talk amongst themselves, except for locket who's ears kept twitching in annoyance. He found the calmness and silence that usually came with fishing the most enjoyable, right now he had neither. "Get that ear under control" one peer said to him, which made locket sigh as he ignored them the best he could. As the day went on, they broke out their pouch and got out their lunch, fish and veggies. As the others ate and talked locket looked to his catches of the day, only minnows and snappers. While the person who he said would get those, was getting better catches like carp and bass. The peers were talking about some legends of the village, such as spottings of rarer fish, or who caught the largest fish. Wether a Goonch was as deadly as a barricuda, so on and so on. During this time locket decided that the others had one too many carps. And he needed to relieve them of one. As the others went back to fishing locket would get a tug on his rod which made him smirk, this didn't feel like a snapper. He began to fight with the fish, reeling as he yanked his rod, and the fish yanked back. Locket stood as he yanked, this might be his best catch ever, until. "Damnit locket, if your going to steal my catch be sneaky about it" he heard one of the other kids say, he was too focused on reeling in this fish to care. But as the fish pulled, he felt someone put their hands on his back, and the next thing he saw was the bottom of the boat. He was shoved overboard. 'Alright, fuck. Stay calm, start swimming' he thought to himself. He looked up and saw the surface, and he began to swim. But when he looked down again he saw something bad, a nasty looking fish barreling towards him. He let out a muffled scream as he swam to the surface, but before he reached it he felt a sharp pain in his side, the water around him turning red. He looked to the surface, he was about five feet from it, so close yet so far. The screaming made him loose his air, his body was about to force him to inhale. He saw someone enter the water when he inhaled, and lost consciousness.
