Locket was out of comission for a week after he got attacked by a barracuda and almost drowned. luckily he was pulled out of the water before he succumbed to the water in his lungs. During this time he didn't have much to do, he couldn't fish, he couldn't go anywhere, but he knew who shoved him into the water, and he wanted revenge. But he would be beaten to the punch as the teen who shoved him spent time digging and covering latrines. This experience would stick with him for a bit, he almost died.
Locket was now fifteen. And he began to explore more ways to steal some fish. He had a locked box at him home for storage, whenever a trader from out of the village passed by he'd buy some thieves tools to try and use on his lock box. Getting closer each time but never succeeding. He was slowly learning the art of thievery, how to sneak where, sleight of hand, everything a thief would do. Except for a silver tongue, he was horrible at convincing people of things. Which was why whenever he got caught he'd only put himself in worse positions, and the punishments slowly got worse and worse as he kept reoffending. His family would scold, punish, and everything in between. Only exception was corporal or physical punishments, which were dealt out by the villages judge of sorts. Or whoever got pissed when locket stole their fish or some coins. Due to his age he wouldn't get the more severe punishments like lashings, but he would be given punishments like holding a bucket filled with fish for half an hour as his joins slowly died.
But the punishments only taught him one thing, and reinforced that lesson. Don't, ever, get caught. Locket was currently at the docks fishing again, catching common trout and some tuna. When he heard someone clear their throat. "Locket" he heard someone growl "you stole my entire pale yesterday" the tabaxi said "your going to give me yours, or else" he said as locket stood up and turned. His ears slightly back "go away, i didn't take anything" he muttered as he put his rod down. "Like hell you didn't" the tabaxi said as he began to approach him. And as you can guess, a fight broke out. Since neither of them had training in fighting you can guess how it went. Pulling on tails, and ears, biting, clawing, so much hissing too. After a minute or two of the two going back and forth two villagers were able to come and separate them. Both locket and the other tabaxi were pretty bloody, nothing fatal just so much cuts from the clawing and biting. This wouldn't end well for either of them.
After getting the biggest yelling of their lives, the other tabaxi was sent to dig latrines and cut the heads off fish, while locket, for the first time in his life. Was going to get a lashing. Needless to say locket wasn't pleased with this punishment, spending the next few hours hiding from anyone to try and avoid his punishment.
