“Ava, you’re getting a little sloppy after he pulls you close.” Violet says pointing to Ava’s feet. She is stepping on her brother, who hisses and lets go of her. Violet has been coming over almost every day for a week and just today, Ava and Nova persuaded her into tutoring them. We are in the living room, where they have more than enough space to move.
“Sorry, Nova.” Ava apologizes, looking defeated. She’s been making the same mistake over and over.
“Let’s go again.” Nova suggests, noticing his sister’s expression.
“You do it, Baby. I want to see how you manage to fall in like that.” Violet nods, but looks at me instead of Nova.
“Come here.” She says, moving from her place on the sofa and offering me a hand.
“I don’t dance.” I say quickly. She smiles a beautiful, sarcastic smile.
“You did.” I fight the urge to smile at her words. I remember that night at the club where I we “danced”. I really was getting as close to her as I could.
“Come on, Tito.” Ava says, settling into another sofa. I shake my head.
“It’ll help them both, Ian, Please?” Violet bats her eyelashes at me and very subtlety. I feel my pants get too tight, my gaze drifting from her eyes to her mouth.
“What do I do?” I ask, earning a smile from Ava, a scoff from Nova and a smirk from Violet.
“Nothing, but pull me into your arms when my I hold my hand out.” I nod and stand where Nova was standing. Violet goes to stand where Ava was standing and begins doing the things…Ava was doing.
I am way over my head here.
“Extend your arm out, Ian.” I do and her hands is in mine. She moves and with her so does my arm. She spins and ends pushed up against my body. She then puts my arms around her the way they should be and looks back at Ava. I look down at her and her tousled red curls.
God, she’s beyond beautiful.
“That was flawless.” Ava says in admiration.
“And that’s how you’ll do it. Come on, try it.” Violet says backing away from me. I pull her back against me.
“Could you do it again? So that I can look at your feet.” Violet nods and moves away again. She repeats the moves and I extend my hand when it I know it’s proper. This time, I spin her, pulling her the way Nova did to Ava. She comes to be chest to chest with me, with my arms around her.
“You seem to be enjoying this a lot more than you want to admit, Ian.” Nova says, giving us an appreciative look.
“I have my girlfriend against me. Of course I am enjoying it.” Violet slaps my shoulder and I kiss her forehead as she moves away.
“My problem is I lose balance and regain it on Nova’s feet.” I chuckle, sitting on a sofa, pulling Violet on my lap. She comes willingly, even though she hates these kinds of displays around Ava and Nova.
But she’s mine and they ought to know it as well.
“Try moving a bit gentler. You’re coming in too strong, that’s why you end up on Nova.” She nods, soaking in the constructive criticism and walks toward her brother.
“Dear God, help her because if she steps on me again, I might just drown her in the pool.” Nova mutters looking up at the ceiling with his hands pressed together in front of him, obviously teasing his sister. She slaps his stomach before walking away and doing the same routine before the part she struggles with.
