As we speed down the deserted highway, the tension between us is as palpable as ever. The roar of the engine fills the silence, but my mind is racing with thoughts of our recent confrontation. The road ahead is dark, illuminated only by the headlights cutting through the night.

I glanced in the rearview mirror, my stomach tightening at the sight of the black SUVs trailing us. "Fuck."

"What is it?" Ace asks, his voice tense.

I snatch off his blindfold. "We've got company," I reply.

His eyes flick to the rearview mirror, then back to the road. "I see them," he replies, his tone grim.

My eyes dart between the mirrors and the road ahead. "They're trying to stay out of sight, but they're not doing a very good job."

Ace cursed under his breath, his jaw clenching.

"Hold on," I say, my grip tightening on the wheel as I press down harder on the accelerator. The car lurches forward, the engine roaring in response.

I take out two guns and hand one two Ace. I shouldn't trust him with this because who knows if he will just shoot me, but I just hope he isn't that stupid.

He sighs before rolling down his window. He looks surprisingly calm, not in the least stressed. He removes his seatbelt as I drive faster. He sticks his upper body out the window, turning to the slowly nearer coming SUV's.

How I would love to push him out right now.

Guns are fired, and as I look into the rear mirror, I see a car crashing into another, its tires shot.

I navigate the streets with a practiced ease, taking sharp turns and narrow alleyways in an attempt to shake our pursuers. But the SUVs stay on our tail, relentless and determined.

My eyes flicker to the side mirror, watching as one of the SUVs pull up alongside us. "They're getting closer," I warned, my voice tight with unease.

"We need to find a way out. We're an too easy target on the highway." Ace shouts whilst shooting mindlessly at the enemy before getting back in.

I nodded, my mind racing as I tried to think of a safe place. "There's an old warehouse a few blocks from here," I said. "It's abandoned. We can hide out there."

He keeps quiet, simply checking his gun magazine.

That's the only answer I need.

I take a sharp turn off the main road, the SUVs still in pursuit, but we are gaining ground, putting distance between us and them.

After a while, we pull up to the warehouse, the large, decrepit building looming over us. I kill the engine, and we both jump out of the car. I take a step back and let out a gasp at the view before me.

"My baby!" I whine as I let my hand run over the many bullet delts in my car.

Ace rolls his eyes. "You'll be fine."

I shoot him a sharp look before straightening up and starting to walk into the building.

The air was thick with dust and the smell of decay, but it was a welcome refuge from the chaos outside.

"We should be safe here for now," I said, my voice echoing in the empty space. "But we need to stay alert. They won't stop until they find us."

He nods, looking and analyzing the place.

There's barely anything here. A few old, dusty boxes stacked ontop of the other, empty racks and smashed windows decorating the place.

Ace gets to work, pushing a heavy crate infront of the door, barricading the entances.
