ROBIN WAS IN DEEP shit this time. More than usual. He was handcuffed to a table with power-suppressing handcuffs. Frankly, he found it dehumanizing, but who was he to complain? He held secrets for too long - and after everything he had been through with the Avengers, they probably deserved to know. But Robin was not about to let them know. If not for their safety, for his. He felt he was entitled to, if nothing else, his secrets.

First to enter the room was Nick Fury - the main person who wanted to unlock every secret Robin harboured. The man sat down across from Robin, the demigod getting major deja vu from this situation.

"Let's do this the easy way," Fury suggested, implying that there was a hard way if Robin did not cooperate, which was not something Robin liked.

"We've been here before, so why don't we just leave it and let me live my life," Robin suggested. "No need to find out the things I don't want to tell you."

Fury just raised an eyebrow. "You don't want to talk to me. That's fine. Maybe I can find someone you will talk to," he said, standing up and leaving the room. Robin doubted that. He was determined not to budge on his stance. But then Loki walked into the room. Robin did not expect that.

Robin raised an eyebrow. "You're still here," he said, phrasing it as a statement rather than a question.

Loki nodded, sitting down. "No point in running off alone," they said sarcastically. Then they turned serious, leaning in closer to Robin so that no one in the other room could hear. "Maybe it is time to come clean."

Robin frowned. "Why? More importantly, how can I just drop something like that on them?"

"Just say it," Loki deadpanned. "They're idiots, but they want to like you. You asked me not long ago to trust you, now it's your turn to trust me."

"Okay, but it's you. You're not exactly known to be trustworthy," Robin tried to joke, but it fell flat as Loki kept a straight face. Robin sighed. "Fine. I'll tell them... some stuff. What I can."

Loki raised an eyebrow. "It may be hypocritical, coming from me, but tell the truth. I want to change.. maybe you should, too." With those words, they got up and left the room, leaving Robin with his eyebrows furrowed in contemplation.

Robin Carter did not know if he was capable of change. Especially not so easily. Was he a hero? Maybe. A twisted one at least, with some questionable morals, but a hero all the same. Playing nice, however, was not exactly one of his key traits. Each one of the Avengers should have figured that out by now. He was in too deep to change that about him now.

Fury walked back into the room and took a seat. "Change your mind yet?"

With a defeated glare, Robin sighed and lowered his head to a nod. He could hear Fury's triumph. "You're not going to believe me," he warned.

Fury raised an eyebrow. "Try me."

"I'm a demigod. Son of Zeus."

From behind the one-way window, Robin heard Thor's shout. "I KNEW IT!"

Robin blinked. "He did not know it," he murmured. He looked up, directly at the director of SHIELD. "That Asteroid guy? Demigod. My friends? Demigods. Shit, sometimes even gods. You can't get involved with me because you will be targeted. By gods, monsters, whatever," he said firmly, face void of humour. He did not know what looks those behind the glass bared. Robin was not sure he wanted to know.

"If we lived in any other world, mister Carter, I wouldn't believe you. But I've seen robots who want to take over the world, dirt monsters and even aliens. Your story isn't too far fetched. So I'd like to welcome you back to the Avengers."

"But-"

"Are you going to set off running again?"

Robin stayed quiet. He did not want to run from his problems, again, but he did not want to cost anyone their lives. "No," he answered at last.

"Good. Now-" Fury did not have the chance to finish. A familiar orange portal opened in the room. Out came Doctor Strange, accompanied by three other people. Two of which Robin did not recognize.

"Kiera?" Robin said, unable to keep the surprise at her sudden appearance from his voice.

She waved awkwardly. "Hey."

"What happened to your X-Force thing?"

"I got bored, went to Wakanda, met these guys and an alien crash landed so here we are," Kiera explained briefly, sparing many details for dramatic effect.

"We need to talk," Strange stated, ignoring both Kiera and Robin.

Fury sighed inaudibly, but nodded. Something big was going to happen once again. And it would be up to the Avengers to stop it.
