The days at school went normal once again. Amy can finally take a breath as there was no one except James and Jason to crowd around her now. The so-called friends now ignored her. But that's okay, I've got two perfect boys around me everywhere I go, Amy thought. And the best thing for Amy after her relationship problems with Jason and James settled down is that she can focus 100% in class and be number 1 again and hold those exam papers with an A on it during end of year. And now Miss Anne can never direct any sarcasm sentences towards her. All went very well until they had their exams.
Two months later..
The sophomore year students had their final examinations. At that time students were all busy. Wherever they go, books will always be their number 1 companion. And Amy was the busiest of all. Cafeteria, school corridors, in class and of course, the library have become her favourite places to study. James never had a chance to talk to her. The stress must be too damn high in her, James thought. And the exams started on Monday till Friday. The Biology subject causes students to scratch their head to the max. Soem even cried not knowing the answers. English Literature made the students keep knocking their pens on their table to remember all those notes on the novel How To Kill The Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Most students got too excited in Chemistry experiments and they blow up stuff.
But in the end, Amy and other students finally take a relieved breath. James decided that he can no longer keep his feeling towards Amy. The time has come for me, James thought. He texted Amy:
Meet me after school at the park. The big tree.
Need to tell you something. Hope you can make it.
-James-
The nervousness started to creep around his neck and his heart beats faster than ever. Soon enough, the school bell rings. Amy got James' text and feeling weird. Like we never met after school, Amy thought. She slowly walked towards the big tree at the park near the school-the place where she's gonna meet James. Her mind actively imagining scenes that might happen. James could say ''I'm in big trouble. And I don't know what to do, Amy. Help!!" or maybe this, ''I have a feeling on you. Like seriously," or maybe "Ms Anne kicked me out of class. I'm too embarassed to meet anyone except you, Amy."
Amy shooked her head, trying to remove all those scenes inside her mind. She finally arrived to see James clutching his hands so tightly that it turns his knuckles all-white. James turned his head, saw Amy and asked her to join him on the bench. James made a silent prayer and let out a breath. He looked into her eyes and held her hands. Gosh, his hands are cold, Amy thought. Amy tried to speak but no voice came out.
''I love you, Amy. Ok, don't try to cut in. Just let me explain,'' James said. ''I had this huge crush on you since we were small kids. Happy and innocent. At that moment I find you very cute and adorable with those cherry-red cheeks and wide smile across your lips. This feeling continues till this very day. When you told me you and Jason are going out together, my heart was completely shattered. Looking the way you walked hand-in-hand with him around school. Laughing histerically at the cafeteria. That actually broke my heart."
"But my hopes began to shine once again when you broke up with him. I'm happy. Not for your sadness of losing a nice boyfriend but seeing you single once again meaning I have the chance. And all I say at that time was its my turn to act. Go for it. And so I did. That's why I told you to meet me here today," said James.
Amy let her tears rolling down her smooth cherry-red cheeks. She was touched. She was speechless. James hugged her and told her not to cry. Thank God the park was empty except for the two of them. Amy gathered her courage to reply as best as she could.
''James, I....." Amy said, almost speechless.
"I what? Amy don't leave me hanging here.'' James was worried that he might get rejected by her.
''I....love you too. We are in a relationship. We get along together more than BFFs should be. We just didn't notice it at the first place. " With that words, she smiled. All of a sudden, James closed in to her face and gave Amy a nice warm kiss on her thin, wide lips. Amy's first kiss, in fact. They kissed for a long time until James finally took his head away from Amy's face. They smiled sweetly at each other. Then James said, ''I'm glad you came today." And he gave Amy one last kiss on her cheek before telling her that they probably should go home or Harry's gonna get angry. They embraced each other while walking home.
10 minutes later, both of them arrived. They went into Amy's bedroom and James jumped onto her bed and asked Amy to join him. They snuggled under the warmth blanket and stared at each other. ''I don't want to lose you anymore. Don't let anyone take you away from me. Please," James said while showing his pinky finger. I joined my finger into him and said ''I promise you.''
''We should tell Harry and Jason, our newly-made friend about this,'' Amy said.
''Yeah. When Harry got back from work, we tell him together,'' James replied. And they fell asleep under the warmth of the blanket.
In the evening, Harry felt weird. The house seems so quiet. He went over to Amy's bedroom and saw that she and James were sleeping. On the same bed. Like seriously! Harry woke Amy up. He shook Amy's body. James started to get conscious too.
''Oh, Ha...r...ry," Amy said while yawning. James said 'hi' to Harry too and get up from the bed. Harry raised an eyebrow and told them to meet him in the living room. James and Amy looked to each other in an agreement-must tell Harry now.
''Since when do you guys sleep on the same bed? That's weird,'' Harry said.
James replied, ''Well, we have started dating, Harry. Hope you okay with that, man." Amy nodded in agreement.
Harry made a suprised face but then he said, "Naaahh...its okay. I've known all along that one day you guys will be together in a better relationship than BFFs. I'm happy for you guys." James and Amy let out relieved breath. Now they can always stay together and face whatever comes ahead of them.
