The cup of cappuccino did nothing to calm James' thoughts. He put his other hand on Amy's shoulder. Amy smiled. They drank the coffee sip by sip. ''Don't be sad. She;s gonna be alright. You know that, don't you?'' Amy said. James frowned. Amy hugged him tighter to cheer him up. James managed a little smile.
He then decided to have a walk. James grabbed Amy's hand and walked out of the hospital's medicine-smelled corridor. They walked to the nearest garden to take fresh air. Their cup still filled with a little cappucino. Amy put it aside. She looked into James hazel brown eyes. They were beautiful, Amy thought.
''Why are you so sad? Is it about your mom or something else?" Amy broke the silence.
''I have a thought just now. I was like, how long have I been by her side? You get what I mean? Now, she's sick. And I don't know what to do." James replied with tears waiting to fall from his beautiful eyes.
Amy gave him a tight hug. To let him have the comfort. To let him know that there is someone by his side. To let him know that there are still people who cares about his feelings. She released her hug.
''I think I know what you should do."
"What could I do? Me and her have never been close since I started my school. She has always been busy with work. Same goes with my dad. Although you only have Harry, you guys are happy. where else me, having parents but living unhappily." James finally poured out whatever he kept for a long time.
''Now I understand. I'm sorry for not knowing this."
"Not your fault. I kept it secret. But now, I tell it to you because I know that you love me. And I know I can always trust you." With that words, he gave Amy a soft but long kiss.
But what they don't know was James' father was watching their scene behind the neatly-trimmed bushes. He cast a little smile probably remembering his romantic old times with his wife. He then walked back into the hospital wanted to accompany his beloved wife.
