Lissabeth

I broke out of the forest, into a little meadow. It was quite beautiful, actually. I might make this my next camp. Bright, secluded, a small town nearby to support my diet. Forks, I think it's called.

My thoughts were interrupted by an unfamiliar scent. Scents, actually. I recognised their origin immediately - it's easier than breathing, what with my gift of tracking. Vampire. Two of them, one male, one female. Recently mated, the girl, relatively young to our life, the man, old. Almost as old as - no. I can't. It's still too painful, even after a hundred years.

I glared at the grass, at a point where the scent is strongest. This meant I'd have to go visit them. Say hello. Ask permission to hunt on their land. I didn't like this idea, because who knew these days who would and who wouldn't go to the Volturi with anyone who looked slightly suspicious. I definitely fell into that category; I looked like I'd been on the run from the Volturi for at least 50 years. Which I had. I had received a tip-off that Aro wanted me for my tracking skill, an upgrade from Demitrius. Yes, I was better than him.

I sighed. There was nothing for it. I wanted conflict even less than I wanted a visit to my kind. I sighed again, and started off on the scent trail.
