Starting Over

Monday morning comes around Hunter is dressed and ready to leave as I still rush around as usual. I quickly slip on my shoes with my tooth brush still in my mouth.

"This is why you should get up when I say so"

Hunter groans looking at his watch again I roll my eyes and quickly look at Hunter to see he is indeed looking back at me I give him my best innocent smile and run into the bathroom to finish brushing my teeth another 10 minutes pass before we are both in the car.

"Hmm two strikes this morning, I wonder how many more before we get home this evening"

"What ? How has there been two"

I moan throwing my head back

"Don't  whine or it will be three. First one was refusing to wake up second one was that lovely eye roll you just gave me... I wonder if your boss will appreciate you being late ?"

"Well maybe if my boss didn't get horny every time we lay in bed I would of got an early night"

I joke back he laughs, I love this side of him, his jokey sarcastic nature when it's just us two together before he becomes the mean Mr Steele when he walks into the office doors. Fortunately and unfortunately Hunter is still working in my office, claiming the company is failing and he can be the one to fix it. I'm glad I get to be with him so much but also miss the freedom I had at work and it's not as easy to make friends now either no one wants to be seen with the bosses girlfriend.

When we enter Hunter heads to his office and I head straight to the break room to meet Kelly

"Hellooo you! Feel like I've not seen you in forever"

She says pulling me into a hug

"I know sorry, i needed the time off to settle into hunters place and get over the shock of my whole house being gone."

"How's it been living with mr boss man"

I blush and smile Kelly pulls a face

"Eww don't want to know anymore"

The two of us laugh and she fills me in on what I've missed with her before we fill our mugs with tea and head to our desks I'm sadly still on my own as Bradley still takes my original desk next to Kelly. Within half an hour I am working in full swing like I've never been gone. I know for certain I have not missed this job

"Hey Arabella. What was your absence pay since your sleeping with the big boss"

A girl asks as she walks past, I choose to ignore her as this is the third person to comment. What they dont know is I didn't get paid. It was unpaid leave I had taken while I got myself back together. This shift has been horrendous, so many comments about me being in a relationship with the boss and Hunter has been in a terrible mood as he makes his way around the office observing staff and their calls i make a mental note to maybe start job hunting for something else. It's finally lunch time and I head to Kelly's desk and fall into my old seat, Bradley had nipped across to the sandwich shop for us we decided to hide out in their work space away from everyone in the break room.

"Hard first day ?"

She asks with a sad smile I shrug my shoulders and return the weak smile

"Yeah just so many nasty comments about my relationship and things plus I have not missed horrible customers and it's even worse that I'm now isolated."

"I hear ya, I'm stuck with Bradley now I want you back..."

"Wow that's kind of you"

Bradley laughs Kelly smiles and gives him a hug

"I'm joking Brad you know I love sharing with you"

I roll my eyes at them

"Okay okay just rub it in more that I no longer have a cubicle bestie"

Bradley laughs and slides onto his desk before passing out our lunches, I'm thankful for the 45 minutes of normal friendly laughter before heading back to my desk... roll on 5.30 I am done with adult life already.
