Lost in the shuffle: a card playing idiom; to be overlooked in a confused or crowded situation

Prompt from hsolomons1Sylvie gets kidnapped by an enemy of the Crowns from before Coulson was killed by Loki. The Crowns plus Sevasey work together to get her back.

Oh, the joys of the Warriors universe. For those who have not read the original universe book, "Warriors" is my One Chicago/SVU/Marvel crossover where four characters, one from each of the Wolfverse shows, are a SHIELD team of agents handled by Phil Coulson known as the Four Crowns, one for each suit in a deck of cards:

 - Jay Halstead, the King of Diamonds, the swordmaster and specializing in brute strength approaches

- Will Halstead, the King of Spades, the Class Four telekinetic/telepathic mutant, team doctor, and knife specialist

 - Sonny Carisi, the King of Clubs, the marksman, sniper, and undercover specialist

 - Sylvie Brett, the Queen of Hearts, the empath psychic, combat medic, and expert in acrobatics as well as staff and escrima fighting

They went dark after Coulson was killed in the Battle of Manhattan and went to their current places of employment. Following the reveal of HYDRA after the fall of Triskelion, they've also done some vigilante work in their cities. The end of the 2018-19 seasons is where the book kicks off, and is really where the rise of the Crowns starts to occur. The main pairings in the story are Brettsey, Upsetad, Manstead, and Rollisi. Since this occurs in the Sylverasey collection, you can guess which relationship is different.

At this point in the 2019-20 seasons, it's past the thirteenth episode of each show. Established Sylverasey, Upstead, Manstead, Rollisi, and Benstone. I've only reached the premieres of the shows and haven't gone much further, so I've tried to keep episode details vague, but there will be some hints about what's to come in that book. Also . . . wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey towards the end.

Enjoy!

"Any nines?"

"Go Fish. Any aces?"

"Go Fish. Any Queens?"

"Right there," Kelly interrupted the game occurring and using his pen to point over his shoulder at Ambulance 61.

It made Joe burst out laughing from where he was refereeing the game of Go Fish between Capp and Tony, both of whom looked up at their lieutenant's words. Sylvie, who was restocking the ambulance, squeaked, eyes wide. "Oh, that's adorable," Emily grinned. "Quick, someone get a picture!"

"On it!" Joe whipped out his phone, leaning back.

"No!" Sylvie shouted, nimbly dropping behind the gurney. "No, no, no!"

"How are you – ?" Emily looked inside the ambulance. "OK, how are you twisting like that?"

"Spin classes!" Sylvie's muffled voice responded. "Amazing for your flexibility!"

As if on cue (and perhaps it was), Matt poked his head out of Truck 81 with a devilish grin. "Oh, yes, it is!"

"Oh, God!" Herrmann groaned from Engine 51, causing Kelly to burst out laughing. "That is not something we needed to know!"
