So I planned on this being only four parts . . . then I started writing this behemoth and ended up saying "nope." So . . . enjoy part three of five, which is a whopping 20.5K words. I hope you enjoy, because our favorite siblings go through it.

Nolan learns what a danger magnet his sister really is, the power behind Chicago's prosecutors makes an appearance, and when Sylvie takes her second trip to see her brother, it ends up being a far worse trip than the first.

Quick disclaimer: I am not a lawyer by any means, so please pardon what is likely some butchering of court proceedings during the trial. You'll get which part when you read to it.

"They what?!"

Nolan's enraged shout echoed through the prosecutors' offices, cutting Frank and Sam's conversation short. Both turned towards the door, and Sam looked at Frank with wide eyes. "What was – ?" she began.

"I don't know," Frank shook his head, rushing out the door.

When he reached Nolan's office, he found the younger man pacing behind his desk like a caged lion, his eyes thundercloud grey and his face white as a sheet. He had his phone pressed to his ear, and he looked like the slightest wind could blow him over. By the time Sam arrived in the doorway, just a second behind Frank, the detective had made it to Nolan's side, his hand firm around his arm. Nolan exhaled shakily, closing his eyes as he attempted to calm himself. "Yes, any updates," he said into his phone. "Thank you, Jack."

He ended the call, and he planted his palms on his desk and lowered his head. Frank moved his hand to carefully grip the back of Nolan's neck, able to feel how much the man was shaking. "What happened?" he asked, watching Sam quietly disappear from the doorway.

"Jack got a call from Mark Jefferies in Chicago," Nolan answered, his voice trembling. "A Midwest drug kingpin ordered a hit on Severide. He was out at his family cabin . . . with Casey and Sylvie."

Frank's eyes widened in horror. "Were they hurt?" he asked, not looking up as Sam returned with a cup of water.

"No, thank God," Nolan shook his head, giving Sam a small smile when she pressed the cup into his hand. "Sylvie was in trouble, but Severide apparently shoved a fishing spear through the shoulder of the bastard threatening her."

Frank smirked in approval. "Good for him."

"Sylvie was attacked?" Sam's jaw dropped.

Nolan nodded as he carefully sipped his water. "Cops got there and collared the two who went after them. Jefferies doesn't have much more."

"I do." The trio looked up, and Peter stepped into the office, closing the door behind him. His lips were pressed tightly together, and he didn't look happy. "I still have some ears in the city, and thankfully some of those ears are friends of Sylvie's. Dr. Halstead can't reveal patient information, but he told me Sylvie, Casey, and Severide were checked out at Med but weren't required to stay the night. His brother is putting feelers out in the department, and right now, it sounds like Campbelle has a mole in the department."

"Has?" Frank repeated icily, making Sam wince. Frank's loyalty to his department was well-known, and their entire inner circle held a hatred for dirty cops.

"Has," Peter nodded grimly. "The detective in charge of the case tracked down the mole, and the bastard said as soon as one of Campbell's men got out on bail, the two were going to hunt down Severide. The police followed Campbell and his goon right to the cabin."
