When you know the final chapter is coming soon and you have no idea how long it'll be but you know the previous chapter should be of similar length . . . you leave this behemoth at 22K. I hope everyone is satisfied with a chapter of that length!

In the aftermath of the fall of BX9, things start to settle in Chicago. But now that Sylvie's heart wrestles between two different cities, she has a difficult choice ahead of her: stay in Chicago or move to Manhattan. When the opportunity arises for her to start paramedicine in New York, she starts to arrive at a decision that brings her peace, she finds that peace doesn't last forever.

Sylvie folded her arms and sighed as she glanced around her apartment. "I guess I'm going to IKEA later."

"Yeah," Frank winced as he surveyed what unscathed furniture remained in Sylvie's home. "And I owe you a new knife."

Sylvie rolled her eyes. "You saved my life with that knife. You don't owe me anything."

Frank huffed in annoyance. "It's like I'm talking to Nolan."

"I'm taking that as a compliment, you know," Nolan remarked as he walked down the hall from inspecting the rest of the apartment. "She's my sister."

"Oh, really?" Frank drawled; Jalen coughed into his arm to avoid bursting into laughter, and Griffin and Ben gave a giggling Lily incredulous looks. "I had no idea."

Nolan scowled at Frank with narrowed eyes. "Can I kick people out of this apartment if I'm your brother?"

"Again, he saved my life," Sylvie reminded him, gingerly sitting on her couch. "If there's one person you aren't kicking out, it's him."

Frank smirked triumphantly at Nolan, and the prosecutor scoffed. "You are an insufferable man."

"Takes one to know one," Frank countered.

Kate sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose, and Olivia shook her head, patting the lieutenant's shoulder sympathetically. "I don't know how you deal with them," the captain told her.

"Neither do I," Kate admitted.

"I think the District Attorney gets most of the credit on that front," Jalen said as he did his own survey of Sylvie's apartment. "We make more appearances at the courthouse than Nolan and Sam do at the precinct."

"Point to Jalen," Frank agreed.

"Well, the door looks like it was an easy fix," Matt said as he inspected it. "Did it really break open that cleanly?"

"I was more occupied with the principiantes who came through than the door itself," Sylvie replied, but she gave Matt a reassuring smile when he winced. "If you could check everything, though, I would appreciate it."

"Of course," Matt nodded at once.

He did a double take when there was a knock on the door, and Kelly checked his watch with a frown. "I thought the plan was for Burgess to text when she was here with Makayla?" he said.

"That was the plan I remember making," Sylvie nodded, checking her phone in confusion.

Jalen peered out the spyhole, and he grinned widely. "It's not the Burgesses."

"Who is it?" Kate frowned, her hand twitching next to her holstered sidearm.

Jalen swiftly opened the door, and a brunette blur lurched through the entryway. "Mom!"

"Noah!" Olivia gasped, immediately crouching so she could catch her son when he rocketed into her arms. "Oh, my God!"

Frank and Nolan exchanged knowing grins, and Jalen stepped back to hold the door open wider for the two men who had waited patiently for Noah to run into the apartment. "Excellent timing, guys."
