On the night of Lord Voldemort's return, Sirius Black is instructed to lie low at his best friend's house. In a proper home after years, Sirius does what he had intended to the day he left Hogwarts. He writes letters to his family. Remus watches as Sirius finishes and then delivers the letters to there graves where they all lie. He delivers Frank & Alice's to the hospital, knowing full well that they won't understand a word. But then, like Padfoot had just said, they were family. To his own surprise, he finds himself at Peter's old house- the place where the betrayal that had torn their little family apart, began. He leaves the letter on the doorstep despite knowing that his old pal may not even know it lies there. Forgotten, quite like the promises they had made each other.
Pained yet triumphant, Peter Pettigrew is instructed to return to his own home while the Dark Lord plans his next move. In his mother's old house after ages, Peter is surprised to find a letter addressed to, "My cheese loving prat, Wormy." Confused beyond belief he can't comprehend why such a letter would arrive for him. When he reads it, a new feeling envelops him. Not the shame of betraying his brothers or the pain of watching Prongs' baby boy- Harry who he's watched become exactly like his parents- fight off the Dark Lord mere hours ago. Guilt consumes him and for the first time since he made that trade he wonders if he made the right choice that crispy August night 15 years ago.
A/N: Time to visit my pure af Marauders who are the definition of deserved better (except Wormy maybe), anyway I was re-reading GOF as one should definitely not be doing during exam week and I remembered the 'lie low at Lupin's' stage where Sirius must have explained everything that had happened and given the fact that both Remus and Sirius would write Harry letters in 5th and 6th year respectively, I wanted a sort of closure to the pain that both of them had been living with since Halloween 1981. Their way to remember their fallen friends.
Each chapter will feature a letter to a friend written by Sirius so the book will be from his POV, except the final chapter which will be from Peter's.
P.S. Cover credits- Pinterest & mood-boards by me (I'm very proud).
