Dear Lily,
Do you remember the first time we had a full conversation without you rolling your eyes at me and Prongs? We bonded over our siblings, and that's when I saw you as Lily Evans- the brilliant, smart person who smiled and shined through everything and not just the girl my best friend was enamoured with. I realise now how hard that must've been because that's all I can do. I have no other choice.
Now I know we both have siblings (although they are incredibly annoying and I still want to punch Dumbledore for leaving our Harry with your sister) but you're my sister Lils, I just wanted to let you know that you'll always be my best friend and sister before anything else.
Fuck- this is so hard because we'd always tease you over being scared of spiders and now you stood up to the biggest, ugliest, most terrifying monster there ever was and you did it with a smile on your face because you were protecting your son. A piece of you.
He has exactly your eyes you know, but poor Harry also got stupid James' eyesight so the glasses cover their full shine a bit. You were right you know, turns out the kid is more like you than James and I can't tell if I should rejoice that there's another sane person around or mope that he didn't go as reckless as we did. In a way I think it's good, I don't want to lose Harry again. Not after I failed you the first time. He's still got a little bit of it though, and with his two friends he's shown more than once that he's your kid through and through. It scares me sometimes how he's always more bothered about people he loves than himself.
Thank you for adopting the three of us when you started going out with Prongs and saving our neck a million times in 7th year. Will you ever forgive me for not being able to protect Harry, to keep him safe? Hell, I don't think I'd be able to forgive myself. But I swear to Merlin, this time I'm not gonna let anything hurt your baby boy Lils. I promise you. I lost a part of me all over again when I saw you there on the floor and I'm not gonna let that happen again to anybody else.
A firewhiskey with you would be perfect just about now. Sitting by the fire and sipping our drinks while James dances around trying to make Harry laugh because obviously he needs to do it before the rest of us. Or maybe one of your berry pies. Just us, having our dinner at your house while Harry keeps pulling at my hair. I'll let you in on a secret, you're my favourite Evans, shit- Potter. Don't tell Prongs though or he'll do my head in.

A/N: So Sirius' equation with Lily was actually so interesting to me and I always thought they looked at each other as siblings because of their less than warm relationships with Regulus and Petunia. They wouldn't try and replace them obviously but just that Sirius and Lily's bond taught them both what it feels like to be close to someone again. This one hurt too but it was also a bit lighter to write out. Next up is the best DADA teacher and my favourite character Remus Lupin!
