Chapter: 3

Soon Tommy just became a part of their everyday lives. To the point, they had a schedule for who had to check in on him during the night. The first few days they had to admit we're a living hell but now they were getting used to having a small mortal around. It was honestly a change that they needed in their lives. The quiet mornings spent awkwardly sitting at the kitchen table became hectic bouncing between everything they needed to get done. Honestly, they don't know how they lived without the chaos that is Tommy.

But right now they were facing the biggest problem they had yet. Tommy had a nightmare. The three gods had no clue how to deal with a hysterically crying child. Tommy was a relatively easy baby all he did was eat, poop, sleep, and smile. But now he was crying! Before this, they weren't even sure Tommy could physically be sad. The only time Tommy had ever cried was the day Techno had found him.

But here they were standing around Tommy's small crib peering down at the small screaming child. His big eyes were filled with tears and they couldn't stop it. How do you deal with that?

Phil's wings fluffed up protectively as he quickly lifted Tommy up and cradled him in his arms.

"What's wrong Tommy," He said gently looking down at the small baby in his arms

"Phil I'm pretty sure Tommy can't speak," Techno joked as he headed toward the kitchen to get Tommy a bottle

"It was rhetorical!" Phil whisper-shouted after him as he watched Techno leave the room

"Phil, do you think he's okay?" Wilbur asked peering over Phil's shoulder to look at the wailing baby

"I think he's going to be fine mate. Tommy probably just had a nightmare,"

"It just sucks we can't do anything about it!"

"I know but we just need to be patient," Phil paused for a second before he continued, "He is going to be ok."

Phil was a liar. He had no clue what was going on or how to stop it! All he can do is sit and wait until Tommy stops crying. And it kills him. At that moment Phil would have traded anything to get Tommy to stop crying. His fortune, his wings, his powers, even his immortality. Just for the small child in his arms. Heck, he would give the whole world just to make Tommy happy.

But he can't. So all he can do is hold Tommy a little bit tighter and wait for Techno to come back.

It seemed like an eternity waiting for Techno. Tommy's cries seemed endless and eternal. Phil could feel Tommy's small body shaking in his arms. And it was slowly eating away at him. Tommy's blonde hair shimmered in the moonlight as Phil gently combed through it with his fingers. Waiting.

Soon enough Techno came back with a bottle for Tommy. Phil then handed Tommy over to Techno despite his urge to never let go of Tommy. After a few minutes, Tommy has stopped crying and fell back asleep. A wave of relief fell onto the trio as Techno placed Tommy back in his crib. The rest of the night they took shifts watching over Tommy as he slept. They had to protect him.

...

By the time morning came the trio was exhausted and on the verge of passing out. Well, actually Wilbur did pass out. He fell asleep as soon as they sat down for breakfast. Wilbur's head was resting on the table as his glasses struggled to stay on. On the other hand, Tommy had the energy of an entire sun. He was busy looking around the room and every now and again gesturing for Techno to bring him to an object that piqued his interest. As of night now he was figuring out the mystery of fridges.

"How can a child that small have so much energy?" Techno groaned as Tommy gestured across the room at flowers on the windowsill.

"Honestly I have no idea," Phil said yawning mid-sentence as Techno made his way to the windowsill
