"hey April, hey, wake up" a voice said, I couldn't quite place where I'd heard it before, it was so familiar. It was dark, I couldn't see who was calling me, I only heard. Pitch black grazed my vision, only for me to realize that my eyes weren't open.

I opened my eyes slowly, squinting as the bright lights of the sky decided to graze my eyes.

"Hey, she's waking up" the voice said again. It was a males voice, I recognized it now, it was Oliver.

I looked up to see four bodies looming over me.

"April, are you alright?" The familiar brown haired boy asked, a sad smile on his face.

"What happened?" Tyler asked me. He got down on one knee and explored my face with his hazel-green eyes. His expression was a mixture of worry and anger.

Of course they wouldn't believe me if I said that a 9 foot tall naked creature was living under the shed and possibly the house. They'd lock me in a mental institution and throw away the key.
"It's nothing....I just tripped is all. How did y'all find me".

"Well, it is pretty obvious to tell when the new girl just vanished" Oliver smiled and winked at me.

I managed to force a smile. My world spun as they helped me onto my feet. My legs wobbled and my cheek hurt.

"God, what happened to your face!" Jared said, yelling a bit. I visibly flinched at his voice and he frowned slightly, quickly regaining composure.

He touched my bruised cheek and I flinched, wincing. He withdrew his hand and tucked it in his pocket and walked in front of everyone, his head hanging low.

They guided me up and into the house. As I walked in, everyone swarmed around me asking me questions like:

'what happened'

'are you okay'

"I'm okay guys, I just tripped, that's all" I smiled. It hurt to smile.

"Clutz" I heard Myron snicker and flop on the couch.

"But your cheek is bruised pretty bad, are you sure you tripped or did something hit you?" Jade asked me. She knew something was up.

Everyone looked at me, awaiting an answer. I smiled and I shook my head. "I tripped, that's it" and I walked away and into my room.

Thirty minutes later, I heard a knock on my door. The door opened slightly and a head poked in.

"Can I come in?" He smiled.

"Sure"

Jared walked into the room and shut the door behind him.

"April, what really happened in there?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm okay, just a little light headed, thanks for asking" I rolled my eyes and glared at him.

"I'm serious"

"So am I"

He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. Everyone just does that these days.

He sat on my bed and looked at me, a saddened look on his face.

"I'm sorry" he whispered. It was almost inaudible and I almost didn't catch what he said.

"For what?"

"For not being there, it's my job to protect you, I was assigned to take care of you and as far as I can see, I'm failing miserably. I'm sorry April, I really am"

I placed a hand on his and he looked up at me and into my eyes.

"I haven't been entirely truthful with you, April. There's something I need to tell yo--"

We were cut off with a knock on the door. Jared quickly got off the bed, brushing off his trousers and walking towards the door. He opened it, giving Oliver a small glance before walking out.

"Hey April, how ya doin'" he asked me, closing the door and sat beside me, opening the first aid box in his hands.

"I'm okay...I guess. My cheek hurts like crap and my head hurts alot".

He didn't say anything, just nodded. He dabbed my cheek with rubbing alcohol and I winced. It hurt.

When he was done, he put a bandage on my cheek. I gave him a small smile and he smiled back, his blue eyes gleaming at me.

He rummaged through the kit, cursing under his breath when he could find what he was looking for.
His frown then turned into a smile when he found it.

He held out his hand to me, two white, circular tablets in his hand.

I gave him a questioning look and he just laughed.

"It's painkillers"

I gladly took it from him and gulped it down along with the water he brought me.

"Thanks Oliver" I told him.

"Anytime princess, anytime"
