Deku's POV 💚

I watched him a moment as he slept rather peacefully against my chest. It was hard to imagine any of this was real, Kacchan was alive. He was damaged and that was very apparent but he was alive and had a chance to live a normal life after recovery. He looked angelic while sleeping I couldn't help but to lean down and gently kiss the side of his head.

He stirred a moment and his eyes opened looking up at me with a dazed and sleepy look.

"How do you feel this morning?" I asked softly, gently moving some of his hair from his face.

"I'm o-okay." He yawned a bit, before sitting up.

"Is there anything you want to do today?" I asked.

He shrugged, his expression seemed aloof. "What's on your mind, Kacchan?"

"Don't you have to work or something?" He crossed his arms laying his head on his knees.

"Not for a few more days. I used vacation so I could help you get adjusted."

He sighed, "Thats dumb. You should just go to work. I'm fine."

I wasn't sure why he was acting like this today.

"You want to be alone?" I asked.

"I didn't say that."

"Then I don't understand."

"I... I don't want you to put your life on pause for me."

He wouldn't look over at me but I could tell by his voice he was close to crying again.

"Hey..." I gently guided him towards me until his head rested against my chest, "You haven't put anything on pause... if anything the agency is happy I took some time off for once..." I chuckled, "I've built up an abundance of vacation and personal days over the years I just haven't touched."

"Working yourself to death. Of course you were..."

"Don't worry too much about it... I want to be here with you right now." I said softly, I pulled him closer.

He climbed into my lap now completely resting against my chest. I sighed contently. After a few moments Kacchan pulled away and stood up, he took small steps to the door. I followed him, allowing him to walk without worrying over him too much. I knew he hated feeling weak, and I didn't want to... what does Uraraka say... Poke the Bear?

He walked into the kitchen and started looking through the fridge, "What are you looking for?" I asked.

"Apparently nothing because it doesn't look like you cook for yourself at all. There's only TV Dinners and random puddings. How are you the number one hero and you eat like shit?" He sighed.

"I can go to the store..." I said nervously as he scolded me.

He glared, "If I'm staying here, yeah. I'll give you a list... I can just... do things around here since I'm basically useless as a hero." He looked down a moment, but I could see he was upset.

"Kacchan..." I started but he cut me off.

"No. It's fine. Just get me a notebook or something. I want to be able to cook dinner tonight at least."

"Oh... okay." I rummaged through a drawer and got him a notepad, and a pen.

He made a long list of different foods and spices he wanted and handed it to me.

"Don't get it if it's over priced." He mumbled.

"Money isn't an issue." I said reassuringly.

"Still. No need to buy something if it's a rip off."

I wasn't really sure what a rip off would be in pricing so I just decided to nod in response. "Did you want to come with me?" I asked.

"No. It's not a good idea. Not until I can get my head on straight." He sighed. "I don't want anyone else seeing me this pathetic."

"Kacchan you are not pathetic! You've just been through a lot and then some! Everything you feel and do is normal for what happened." I said trying to assure him but he just shook his head.

"I'm better than that. I hate it, for fucks sake, Deku! I was ready to offer myself to anyone for an OUNCE of peace." He slammed his hands on the table and I stepped back, "I expected you to even take advantage of me. YOU! Out of everyone in the world, I should know YOU!" I watched silently as he ranted and tears started to fall down his face.

"I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT! And the WORST PART!" He looked up at me, "I CANT EVEN FULLY BELIEVE YOU WONT DO SOMETHING TO ME EVEN NOW!" He collapsed to the floor and I ran around the kitchen island.

I was afraid he had fallen because of his knee, but he was sitting in the floor holding his knees and hiding his face. "Kacchan..." I said softly.

"Don't! Just go to the store! I... I just want to be alone for a little bit..." he turned his head to face away from me.

"I... can you at least sit in the living room or in the bedroom... I don't want to leave you on the kitchen floor..." I said feeling defeated.

"Fine." He stood, swatting my hand away.

I watched as he walked, trying to hid the slight limp he had back to my bedroom. I followed slowly behind, sighing as I grabbed my coat from the closet he laid on the bed facing away from me.

"Kacchan..." I said softly.

He flinched as my hand gently touched his shoulder, "JUST GO ALREADY!"

"Okay, I'll be back..."
