I rubbed my head as I looked around at where I had landed. I discovered I was on a boat or something like it if it wasn't. Then I saw I wasn't alone. I saw people. People I didn't recognise and people I thought were my friends. They looked like they were, but after everything going on I just wanted to make sure that they really were instead of being monsters in disguise.
"Olaf!" they cried.
"Guys, is that really you?"
"Yes, Olaf, it's us," Elsa said.
When they hugged me, that was how I knew that they were my friends for real.
"So what have I missed?" I asked. "Get me up to date with everything."
I wished I didn't ask that when they all took turns to tell me ever since Tzekel-Kan threw me into that green stuff in the cauldron, I became his rock monster and I tried to attack my friends and I wouldn't stop until the magic stopped. Even though everyone told me that it wasn't my fault and that I had no control over it, I couldn't help feeling guilty about what I did.
"We're all just glad you're okay and back to your normal self, Olaf," Anna said.
"Thanks, Anna," I said. "And I'm glad we won the war and you're all back here."
"Not all of us are here, Olaf," Elsa said sadly.
I tried to find out who wasn't here with us. I could see Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Mattias, Honeymaren, Ryder, Tulio, Chel, Moana, Maui, Kasper, Rika, Benito and Nicla along with people I've met for the first time in my life like Raya, Sisu, Namarri and everyone from Kumandra. Then I finally worked out someone who wasn't here with us. "Where's Miguel?"
Elsa sighed sadly. "I'm afraid, Olaf, that Miguel sacrificed himself to stop the war."
I couldn't believe what I heard. "You mean he's dead?"
"We're afraid so, Olaf," Tulio said.
That was the saddest thing I've ever heard in my life. I decided to move the starboard side of the boat and looked at the sea, with tears pouring out of my eyes. I couldn't find anything in the ocean except the water and someone sleeping on top of the surface. Then I realised that person wasn't sleeping and that he or she might have drowned. I told my friends about it and soon Tong and Maui helped him up. We were all shocked after we turned the body around and saw who he was.
"Miguel!" I cried.
I was delighted to see him, but everyone was confused, though I was sure that they were pleased to see him in their own way.
"He's here?" Honeymaren asked.
"How can he be?" Raya asked. "We saw him vanish into thin air."
"He's even got his clothes on," Kristoff said. "They were left on those circles when he vanished."
"Maybe he didn't die," Chel said. "Maybe when he vanished, he was just sent away like that white stuff in the bottles Anna and I found and that gem that Nicla used to send those monsters away. It might have worked on his clothes as well."
I tried to understand what they were saying, but my brain started to ache. "So, you're saying is that Miguel's alive?" I asked.
"We hope so, Olaf," Elsa said.
Moana went to feel his forehead, checked his breathing and his pulse. "I'm not getting anything," she reported.
Tulio pinched Miguel's nose, but he was still unconscious. Then Sisu tried her powers of... tickling him, but she was no more successful.
Then I had an idea. "What if it's something magical that might wake him up? Like a kiss or praise?"
We all took turns into saying what a hero he was to the whole world, what a very good deed he had done for the world and then Elsa slowly approached him and kissed on the lips.
Sadly, none of those things worked. We all felt that Miguel was dead this time.
"At least we can bury him and give him the send-off he deserves when we get back to his island," Moana said.
For a long while, we didn't talk. We spent a lot of time crying. I couldn't help feeling remorseful that me becoming Tzekel-Kan's giant rock monster pet was part of the reason why Miguel died.
"What's up, Olaf?"
"Oh, it's that our good friend Miguel has died saving the world," I said, without looking at who was speaking to me. "We are proud of him, but we miss him terribly."
"Why don't you turn around?" the voice said. "You might feel a bit better afterwards."
"Okay." I turned around to see who was speaking to me. "No, sorry, I don't feel any better." Then I started to turn away, but then I looked at the person who was speaking to me again and I looked at him properly. I couldn't believe who I saw. "Miguel! Is that you? Are you alive?"
"Find out for yourself, Olaf," he said, offering his hand.
I approached him slowly because I wanted to check that this wasn't a magical trick and it was really him. I felt his hand and he felt real. "It is you, Miguel!" I just had to hug him and he hugged me back. Then I turned to face everyone. "Everyone, look! Miguel's alive! He's alive again!"
Everyone looked at Miguel and they couldn't believe it any more than I could at first. I saw all of them had big smiles on their faces; some even had tears of joy that were as big as waterfalls pouring down their eyes.
"Uncle Miguel!" cried Benito, Rika and Kasper as they ran to hug him, which he hugged back.
"This is your Uncle Miguel, Benito?" Nicla asked.
"Yes, Nicla," Benito said. "And he's the best uncle in the whole wide world."
Nicla offered her hand, but Miguel just hugged her. Then he went to hug Raya, Sisu, many of our new friends from Kumandra, Moana, Maui, Kristoff, Anna, Chel, Tulio and finally Elsa who even kissed him again.
"Are you okay, Miguel?" Anna asked.
"Yeah, I'm good," he said.
"How did you come back to life?" Moana asked.
"It's a long story," he said.
But we all wanted to hear it, so he told us. He started with when he vanished after he stepped on the stones in that awful temple he went to some sort of afterlife. There he met the god Yologana himself. He apologised to him for what his family did to him and Yologana forgave him.
"Do you know if his daughter Delphino is with him after she died?" Anna asked.
"No," Miguel said. "He's not impressed with all the bad stuff she committed in his name."
Then he continued to say for being so good he would grant him one request.
"So that's how you came back to life," Tulio said.
"He did grant me life again," Miguel said, "but that's not the request I made."
"What is the request you made?" Elsa asked.
"I mustn't tell any one of you," he said. "He will arrive tonight and he will let you know. That's a promise."
"So how's hungry?" Boun asked. "Raya, would you take the helm while I'm cooking?"
"No problem," Raya said, as she went to the helm.
Soon we set off. I was pleased that Miguel was alive and well, but I still couldn't shake the guilty feeling out of my snowy body. Then I saw Miguel sitting next to me.
"What's up, Olaf?" he asked.
"I just feel bad about becoming one of Tzekel-Kan's monster and attack you and all of our friends," I sobbed. "I'm so sorry, Miguel. I hope you can ever forgive me."
"Olaf, it wasn't your fault because it wasn't your choice," he told me. "There's nothing to forgive. Besides, I think you've done very well in this part of the war like everyone else had."
"Well, I hope there will be no more wars because it's not a pleasant business at all," I said.
"Me too, Olaf," Miguel said, as he patted me on the back. "Me too."
"Dinner's ready!" Boun called. "Come and get it!"
"You hungry, Olaf?" Miguel asked me.
"You betach!" I cried, as I followed my friend to get some grub.
