There was total chaos in Hansas house as they unpacked their stuff. The phone rang and Ajabdeh ran to pick the phone up.
She answered the call
"Hello Hans.." A manly voice spoke
"Daata its Ajabdeh speaking, Ma is arranging the kitchen," Ajabdeh cut in.
"Ajabdeh listen, I will be home by six, you people be ready. Inform your mom"
"Oh okay. But what about bhai? He is still not home yet." Ajabdeh enquired.
Suddenly Ajabdeh heard her mothers voice from behind.
"Who is it Ajab?" Hansa walked up to her daughter.
"Daata." Ajabdeh answered back
"Ram?? Give the phone to me and you go get ready." Hansa took the phone from Ajabdehs hand as she urged her daughter to get ready.
"Ma its just 5 , which means I have two hours in hand to get dressed for the occasion." Ajabdeh complained.
"I know. But you need more time in finalizing the clothes. You choose one then you nod your head and dismiss it. Then you select another dress. Then after a minute or so, you find a problem in the dress. Slowly and steadily the whole wardrobe has been laid out on the bed."
"Then you walk up to me and say Ma! I dont have any clothes to wear. So go and get ready now itself. Atleast finalize what you want to wear."
"Fine." Ajabdeh gave up.
One could hear Ram chuckle from the other end of the receiver.
Just like the Sisodias, Hansas family, the Punwars were a family of six. Ajabdeh was the eldest, followed by Ratnavati or Ratna as she was called lovingly. Then there were two brothers Balwant and Fatta or Fatteh Singh. Balwant was younger to Ajabdeh by a year and he had decided to be a chef. After completing his tenth, he had gotten into hotel management.
"Ram make sure you call Balwant. He is still not home."
"Why where is he?"
"Remember Rishi?"
"The one who shifted to Udaipur?"
"Yes, he has gone to meet him. I called him twice and he hung up saying hell come home early and i needn't worry. But he hasnt come home. Pick him up on the way if possible."
"Ill pick him up. Dont worry."
"Fine then" Saying so she hung. She turned around, but her eyes went wide after seeing something
"AJABDEHHHH RATNAAAA COME FASTT !!!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.
Ajabdeh and Ratanavati came running after hearing Hansas scream. They saw Hansa standing on a couch near the telephone completely horrified.
"Ma what happened, why you so frightened?" Ratnavati asked
"Tch, Ratnaa its why are you so frightened." Ajabdeh corrected her
"HELLOOO!! AJABDEH RATNA HAVE YOUR GRAMMAR LESSONS LATER! LOOK WHAT THAT LITTLE PUNK IS DOING!!! KRISHNAJI!! WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU BOTH DOING!!!STOP IT, RATNAAAAAA GO FASTTTT." Hansa now screamed at the girls.
"Ratnaa go fast." Ajabdeh panicked
"But jija, you too can go." Ratna replied.
"I could have but it doesnot listen to my commands GO FAA.."
"GO FASTTTT BEFORE IT DESTROYS EVERYTHING!!!!!!" Hansa cut in.
Ratnavati ran towards the pup which Hansa referred to as little punk. She returned with the pup in hand and was scolding it in a kiddish voice. Hansa got down from the couch and heaved a sigh. She placed both her hands on her waist and spoke.
Listen hear young lady, leave this puppy out right now! And after you do that I need to talk to you. Come in my room once you leave it out.
But maaa Ratna whinned.
I said, it should be out. And Ajabdeh you are not supporting her this time
Ajabdeh noded her head a little hesistatingly.A sad Ratanavati left her dear puppy near the door, and walked towards Hansas room. Awaiting for the inevitable decision that her mother was going to take, Ratnavati now entered her mothers room where she saw her sister standing in complete silence her head bowed down.
