Herb paced back and forth his room not knowing what to do, drops of blood fell from his mouth. "Maybe I'll go to the doctor...? But would they believe me?" Herb was worried, he'd never known about this condition...or sickness before. He might as well take a shot. He quickly ran to the nearest hospital. Once he had entered it, he started to cough again. He was out of breath, this triggered his body to cough up petals. Cause and effect.
It was ironic.
A gardener were to take care of flowers, not literally create them.
Every cookie in the room was starting to stare at him, whispering to each other about the oddity of him. Not his illness, but he himself. He could hear everything, he was scared, he couldn't handle it. He then fainted to the floor from either exhaustion, anxiety, the illness, or even maybe all three.Herb's eyes slowly blinked open, the ceiling was all he could see, he couldn't gather the strength to even move a muscle. "..h...elp...m...e.." was all he could manage to say. The doctor heard his cry of help, gave him an oxygen mask and waited for the cookie to gain his composure. Herb's breathing slowly returned to normal and he felt much better. He then sat up and looked at the doctors, "We saw you collapse in front of a puddle of blood, are you okay?" The doctor asked. "I wish," Herb laughed "I've been coughing up petals and...and I don't know why..." He then started to cry "Please help me, what's wrong with me..?" He begged, the doctor listened to his heartbeat, "It's irregular, can you describe the symptoms? Or we might need to take an X-ray." The doctor said "Coughing up blood, petals along with it. The coughing made my throat hurt, a lot..." Herb explained "We seriously might need to perform an X-ray." The doctor noted down his symptoms.
After the xray scanning (or whatever they do)
"My assumptions were right, sir. I'm afraid you have Hanahaki Disease. It's a disease where you cough up petals, maybe even flowers, when your love isn't returned. The only way to cure it is either surgical removal or the reciprocations of the person you long for. " The doctor stated "Any idea of who it is?" He asked "...I think so, but what am I meant to do?! No way he likes me. He's so outgoing and nice, the exact opposite of me." Herb slumped onto the chair. "Thanks for your help though..." The doctor called out to him several times but Herb just paid the fees and solemnly went home. He walked past The Bar, where he'd normally wave to sparkling from outside. 'He's too busy chatting with others anyways.' Herb looked down at the pathway and drooped his head.
Sparkling cookie saw Herb and instantly became worried, he started to text the florist.
"R u ok? I saw u walk past the bar and you seemed rlly sad..." He typed.
Herb read the message but couldn't be bother to reply, 'Go and talk to Vampire, I bet you didn't notice I went out the door. You just ignored me when I was in the bar. You had many customers, sure, but you didn't care to check up on me. You just spent your time talking to Vampire. Couldn't you be serving others instead of talking to him?' Was what Herb wished he could say but thinking about the whole ordeal made him cough petals again.
He was being greedy.
Jealously did not feel great.
There was now a trail of blood and petals that lead to his doorstep.'He left me on read..' It had been at least 10 minutes since he sent the message and he couldn't help but be worried but, there were still customers. 'He'll be fine, he's strong. I believe in him.' Sparkling thought and made drinks for the next cookie.
(For the record, I don't know how hospitals work so I'm making all of this up.)
