It's been roughly a week since the Bartender and the Florist met, they've just been texting little things like a simple good morning or a good night. Even so, Herb was still lovestruck. The little texts that Sparkling gave him made his heart flutter. Sometimes they'd even see each other on the street and wave.Today, Herb was going to Sparkling's bar, it was its grand opening after all. Herb stepped inside the modern-looking bar, and a small chime from a bell could be heard. Sparkling was tending to a customer but looked over at the timid cookie. "Hey Herby!" He smiled charmingly, Herb waved at him and sat in an area not many people were at. Sparkling approached him, "So, welcome to my bar! It's quite jam-packed with cookies and I'm sorry if I can't chat a lot!" Sparkling explained. Herb looked around the bar and, it really was filled customers. "...That's really no problem! Just please accept this!" Herb handed the bartender a pot of forget-me-nots. "Take it as a sign of my appreciation!" He thanked. Sparkling put the pot on a shelf, beside it was the yellow roses that Herb had given him. Herb noticed this and was a little flustered, but he shook his feelings off.
"Sparky~ Can I get more Red Wine?~" a voice across the bar echoed, the voice sounded familiar to Herb and he looked at the direction it came from. It was Vampire cookie, Sparkling went over and poured him a glass. The two cookies then started to mingle with each other. Herb looked down at his hands and fiddled with his fingers awkwardly. He really wanted to leave. He felt uncomfortable being the only one alone, all by himself, but he felt it would be rude to suddenly leave without notice, he didn't want to call out to Sparkling either since he was afraid he would bother him and the guests. He then started to overthink and started feeling dizzy despite not drinking at all. He looked around the bar for the bathroom for a bit and went into a stall and sat there waiting for a few minutes, looking at his phone. He sometimes would peek outside the door seeing if Sparkling wasn't busy but since the place was full, he'd always be doing something. Herb then started to sweat profusely, his seat got taken. 'Oh my roots...what to do...what to do...can I just sprint outside? No that's gonna cause a scene... Ah! I'll just walk outside, he shouldn't be able to pay attention on me if I walked outside..right?' He thought. Herb looked at Sparkling cookie and saw that he kept on going to Vampire cookie, which kind of made his heart sink. Sparkling was laughing and chattering with Vampire, something that couldn't be possible with Herb. He was too introverted and awkward. This thought suffocated him, literally. Herb quickly walked out the door, Sparkling wouldn't care about his presence anyways, maybe he didn't even notice he was gone. The bell chimed, Sparkling looked over but nobody came in, 'Somebody must've left, that's a shame, I could've said bye.' He thought. Herb cookie felt giddy and ran straight back to his flower shop—which was connected to his house. He hurriedly went to his bathroom and started to cough. So much so that it hurt. A lot. He couldn't stop coughing, 'it hurts, it hurts, it hurts.' the words repeated in his mind, he felt so sick. He couldn't even keep his eyes open. After he was done coughing, he was frightened by what he saw. Various petals covered in blood were in the toilet, 'Did I... cough these up?' His entire body started to tremble. "This isn't real, it must be a dream..."
He laughed in horror, trying to shake the feeling of terror off.
