Chapter 7

"Nate what are you doing?" I ask, mortified that he just punched my boyfriend across the face.

"I don't know. Hey, Abby, can you come back to the house so we can talk real quick?" He asks, concern lacing his tone. I debate whether I want to go back or not.

"Sure, I'll try to be quick." I start my hike back the way I came after I hang up with Nate. I can't help but feel like Nate and I could be good friends if we got to know each other better. I am contemplating this situation as I walk back the few blocks I travelled. I can't decide whether to break up with my boyfriend Tyler or not. I should but idk if I have the heart for it. By this time I'm at the house so I walk in the open front door and walk up the steps towards where I know Nate will be. When I walk in the room, Tyler is awake and seems to be more sober than before because he seems to understand what he's saying as he yells at his friend. "Um..." I say awkwardly, standing in the doorway.

"Abby, get out! Don't trust Nate," Tyler says. I want to believe him and leave but I can't listen to him now.

"No, Tyler, were over." I cut that string rather quickly.

"What? Why..." He sobs out in front of me.

"What do you mean why? You cheated on me Tyler! I can't trust you now," I say realizing that he doesn't remember what happened.

"Im so sorry honey. Please, please forgive me!" He pleads. I almost forgive him but I know that if I do that I will never be strong enough to end it with him ever again. I give him a simple shake of my head before moving over to stand next to Nate for protection. Nate then laughs maniacally. "Abby! Move! Run away!" Tyler warns me, and this time I listen. I run away as Tyler tackles Nate who started to run towards me. I run and run and run until I can't anymore. I hear footsteps behind me and turn to see Tyler. I run into his arms and hug him tightly. "I won't ever hurt you again honey. I'm so sorry, I promise I won't hurt you" he says as tears fall from my eyes. That's when I let him back into my life. A few months later I caught him cheating and I broke up with him. I never forgot his promise.
