Chapter Ten
I lay in bed. Laying there, tears staining my face, I couldn't do it, face the team the way I was. I had a nightmare, about my mother. They always happened at this time. Suddenly I heard a knock before the door opened. "Sweetie?" I heard my father, I turned slowly.
"D-Dad?" I mumbled and he nodded.
"I brought you breakfast." He came in with a tray, I felt confused, but allowed him in any way, I wore a shirt that belonged to my mother, and I clung to it as he sat down giving me the food. "I was thinking hun." He said and I looked at him, he's never been this sweet, but depending on the day. "Do you wanna visit her?" He asked and I looked at him, tears filling my eyes again, nodding.
"Together?" I mumbled and he nodded.
"She won't be very appreciative of me being there, if she was alive I would be dead." He said and I laughed. "You wouldn't be here, where you are today..." He looked down and I smiled. "This whole therapy junk is making me see how I was." He said looking at me, "You've been here, what three months?" He asked and I smiled.
"Nearly."
"Nearly." He nodded and sighed. "Everyone already loves you." He mumbled. "Some may be a bit too much." He said and I giggled, wiping my tears, I heard a knock and saw Steve peek in.
"Steve! Come in." I said and he slowly did.
"I did not mean to interrupt." He said and I shook my head, he walked over. "Your dad told me you're visiting your mom so..." He mumbled and held a rose to me, a white one. "For her." He said and I almost burst into tears again, I took it and then a red one in his other hand, that he was hiding behind his back. "For you." He said I did start crying now, I was so emotional, and Steve was so sweet.
"You're so lovely Steve, they're lovely," I said and he smiled reaching down and wiping my tears, he's been doing that a lot. I saw my father looking at me, as I looked at the two flowers, I put mine on my side table, I looked down at the food, it was PB and J, but with the crust cut off. "Dad I'm not 5, you used to make this for me when I was a kid." I chuckled and he chuckled.
"It's all I can make. Pepper always made your food." He said and I giggled eating it Steve turned to leave.
"Mm! Steve!" I looked at him and he looked at me. "Tomorrow I have an interview, and I have to be on set," I said and he looked confused.
"Set?" Dad mumbled. "Set for what?" He asked.
"The sequel of War Time," I said and he tilted his head.
"There's a sequel?" Dad asked and I nodded. "This one about what?"
"World War Two, and how she falls in love with someone else while her arranged marriage dude is at war," I said and Steve stared at me. "But it's cool 'cause she's British, and he's American and she lives on the base that he works on 'cause remember her dad?" I asked and he nodded. "He's a Colonel now and she's his daughter," I said.
"Huh," Dad mumbled. "So you're the British girl?" He asked and I nodded.
"Maggy," I said and he hummed, I stood up and started talking in a perfect British accent, since I've had relentless coaching. "You see papa, I love him." I grabbed my dad's hands and he chuckled. "Please papa, I don't want this marriage to go through!" I exaggerated pushing myself back, hitting Steve's chest, he was smiling. "I love another." I giggled and he bit his lip. My dad stood up.
"I'm glad you're in a better mood there," Dad said and I nodded.
"I'll get dressed, you two go, I'll see you in the garage?" I asked and Dad nodded and pushed Steve out, I got dressed and looked at the dress, it was my mother's as well. I walked out holding the flower Steve got for my mother, I smiled and walked to the elevator, I went to the garage and saw Dad sitting there waiting, this was the first time I would ve going out with him alone, I bit my lip.
