QT: The Host is Listless

Shen Yi woke up to the sound of his sister speaking with the long time doctor that was in charge of him. He closed his eyes and carefully picked up on the conversation, not wanting to miss out on information yet not wanting to move an inch from where he was.

"Miss Lan, if you truly want to move your brother than you will need to ensure that the process during must be perfect. As I am aware, your financial problems have a difficult time covering the cost, therefore I don't suggest doing this." The Doctor spoke, his voice was smooth and deep with a slight hoarseness to it. It was clear that this man hasn't slept for the whole night and was tired, but he still kept to etiquette and remained courteous when speaking with Lan Xing.

Lan Xing didn't give up. "Doctor Li, I really need to have a change in environment and so does my brother. Please, I can't stand in this place anymore. And my brother deserves to have a change in scenery, for the betterment of his mental health."

Doctor Li sighed. "Fine, since you want to be stubborn. I will prepare the procedures and paperwork for the transfer by tomorrow. Please hand in the relevant documents by tonight, okay?"

"Okay!" Lan Xing's voice was filled with enlightenment.

And the conversation felt short after that, leaving the room in silence as both party left in a hurry to different places. Shen Yi opened his eyes and there was a contemplative glint in his eyes. For a second, he looked like a cold being looking down from high above but that feeling disappeared almost as quickly as he came. A moment later, a cute voice penetrated the silence.

Shen Yi looked down and found the system being tangled up in the blankets of his bet, struggling to untangle himself. His lips quirked up into an amused smile as he reached out to pick the tiny creature up. Shiba the Hamster was dangled in front of his host and wanted to cry.

"Host, you're finally awake!" Shiba cried out.

"Good morning," Shen Yi said. He tossed the thing back onto the bed and watched as Shiba do a back flip before sitting down cutely. Shen Yi massaged his wrists, this body was pathetically weak. Holding the weight of a hamster for barely a few seconds and it was already sore.

"In two days, the first sign of the female lead having her black material uploaded onto the net will start," Shiba explained their timeline.

In the original timeline, the reputation of Lan Xing eroded in the span of one month. By the end got the month, anyone and everyone could come up with a random story to further damage her reputation and the whole public would believe in it. Whoever was the one doing the blackening behind the scenes was a professional, the whole situation felt natural.

"Let it happen," Shen Yi said coldly as if it wasn't something he should care about. Shiba froze. He turned up to look at his host who was reaching for the laptop that was placed by the side. There wasn't a hint of warmth in Shen Yi's eyes, nor was there even rage or any other emotions. It was just pure indifference.

"This... Host doesn't care?" Shiba asked. "You need to whitewash the female lead."

"She didn't do anything wrong, right?" Shen Yi asked rhetorically. "The truth will always make itself clear so long you play the right cards."

In truth, Shen Yi was just too lazy to do anything. The beautifully phrased bullshit was just said aloud for the benefit of the tiny fool who was now nestling on the blanket of the hospital bed. Shen Yi ignored the little creature and switched on the laptop, inserting the password, he instantly clicked into the browser and searched up the latest news.

As expected, the internet is exploding with the black materials of the fake female lead. Bold headlines all over the plages, trending tags on Weibo and Twitter, everyone and anyone was talking about it. A flash of ridicule went by his eyes before Shen Yi dived deeper into the news.
