Chapter 19

LLOYD'S POV 

It's been around a week since I arrived here, however Baron didn't take me seriously yet. He said that we would try to convince each other, but every time that I try to talk with him, he says that he has a meeting or stuff like that. 

-Camellia: (pokes your cheek with a flower) Lloyd, you look sad… 
-Lloyd: I am… (looks down) 
-Camellia: What happens? 
-Lloyd: I want to have a talk with your father, but he's always busy (sighs) I feel like I'm wasting my time here… 
-Camellia: Ah, I know what you mean. I also want to spend more time with my dad! (chuckles) But he's the king, he needs to be there in order to help the citizens (smiles) 
-Lloyd: Help the citizens, huh? (lays at the grass) 
-Camellia: We need to understand him, there's just a king for a lot of elves. Of course he's always busy… But we can't complain, he's just trying to improve this place (smiles) 
-Lloyd: (smiles) I think I have an idea. Camellia, you really have a beautiful heart (chuckles) 
-Camellia: (giggles) Thank you. But what are you going to do? 
-Lloyd: I'll stop wasting my time (smiles and gets up). I think that your father could count on someone else so he can rest from time to time. 
-Camellia: Where are you going? 
-Lloyd: To the castle, I'll see you later (smiles and waves) Don't play too far away, take care, okay? 

I've been really blind. Baron is always busy because he doesn't have anyone to help him. I could do it. Why haven't I realised that before? It's amazing how a girl of ten years old inspired me. 

If I help Baron to accomplish whatever his goal is, he'll finish before and that means that he might accept joining me and the rest. 

-Lloyd: Baron, can I come in? 
-Baron: Lloyd, is there something wrong? 
-Lloyd: No, it's just that I'm tired of wasting my time here (smiles). I have a nice idea. 
-Baron: I don't have too much time, what is it? 
-Lloyd: What if I became your adviser? I've realised how busy you are… Camellia would like to spend more time with you. So I thought that having some help would make that possible. What do you think? 
-Baron: Well, it's true that I barely get to see her and that once I'm free she's already sleeping. Also, who wouldn't want the strongest wizard working side by side with him? (chuckles) Okay Lloyd, I'll accept your help. 
-Lloyd: Awesome! (takes a seat behind him) How can I help you? 
-Baron: There's the construction guild who lacks personnel, they've come here a few times already because it's impossible to finish the bridge that will connect the castle with the forest directly. 
-Lloyd: A bridge that connects the castle with the forest?! 
-Baron: Yeah, what happened? 
-Lloyd: I think that it is way too dangerous… If suddenly a war starts, it would be much easier to enter the castle. That bridge shouldn't be created. 
-Baron: Then, what do you suggest? We need to bring the water from the lake… 
-Lloyd: Well, we don't need a bridge to do so. There's other ways of bringing the water to the city (smiles) 
-Baron: Hmmm… How? My people need a straight way to the lake… 
-Lloyd: We can make the water come here by itself… (chuckles) 
-Baron: How would we do that?! We can't use magic for too much time, and that would be exhausting…. 
-Lloyd: You don't need to use magic, we'll create a big aqueduct and a plumbing system that will supply water for everyone (smiles) 
-Baron: I have no idea what you are talking about… 
-Lloyd: It's okay, don't worry (smiles) Just leave it to me, you'll be amazed. 
-Baron: How much is it going to take to be finished? 
-Lloyd: Well, taking into account that I need to reunite with the construction guild and that I have crafting powers… Maybe it can be done in around a week and a half. 
-Baron: That would be amazing! It is really hard to imagine though. 
-Lloyd: Just wait, I'll make it real. 

The days passed by, and just as I promised Baron, I created an aqueduct and a plumbing system for all Alfheim. The citizens are really happy with the results. And Baron is still trying to guess how it's possible that the water comes here alone. 

-Lloyd: (places a hand on his shoulder) It works with gravity my friend. We just need physics and a big imagination to do it (chuckles) 
-Baron: It's really amazing. I'm curious, do you think that we could do any other improvement for the city? 
-Lloyd: Actually yes, I think that we could-
-Baron: Then I count with you (smiles) I know that you'll do an amazing job, my friend. 

And there he goes again… What else can I do to gain his attention? I'm trying to help him as much as possible, but it still feels like it is not enough. 

He wants to improve Alfheim? That's everything he wants? Then I'll give it to him. Plus, making the rest of elves happy will also increase the chances of them joining us. I can do this. 

I spent the following two weeks creating windmills, and solar panels using magic so I could bring electricity for all the elves. However, Baron still avoids me and the war topic. I had enough, I'm a good guy but I'm not a fool. All he's doing is taking advantage of me and my powers, and I had enough of that. 

-Lloyd: Baron, this is the last time that I'm going to ask you. I have done a lot for Alfheim, now I need you to listen to me and give me a proper answer. 
-Baron: (sighs) Lloyd… Why are you so insisting? 
-Lloyd: Baron, are you going to join me in order to defeat the church? Yes or no? (serious) 
-Baron: You know that we are pacifists, we won't fight against anyone. Plus, you didn't accept the only condition given. 
-Lloyd: (frowning) I thought you were another kind of person, Baron. I'm asking for help but all you are doing is being an egotistical idiot. That's fine though, I don't need you (hits the table)
-Baron: Lloyd, stop! You are scaring Camellia! (serious) 
-Lloyd: Camellia is way smarter than what you think. I'm sure that if she were the queen, she wouldn't have hesitated to help a friend (leaves the castle) 

I can't believe that I have wasted a month here for nothing. But what else could I do?! I tried everything, but Baron won't listen to me. What can I do? How am I going to return with Clive and tell him that they refused to join us? 

Wait, "they"? I just asked Baron… Maybe that's the problem. I need to ask the citizens directly! There could be some of them accepting in exchange of what I have done for their city. 

-Time skip some hours later-

I'm currently at the city's center, in front of the castle. This place is always active since almost all the stores are here. I'll take advantage of that to make them all listen to me. 

-Lloyd: Citizens of Alfheim! Listen to me, please! There's a big danger coming for all of us. The magic creatures are being chased by the horrible organisation called church. They won't let anyone who's not a human alive! We need to face them! We need to fight for our freedom, our rights! 

Slowly, more and more eleves start reuniting around me. Is it working? Am I reaching them enough? 

-Lloyd: Alfheim is an amazing place. It has beautiful sceneries and beautiful people, but it also has a king who refuses to help a friend in danger! Haven't I helped enough? I brought water and electricity for everyone! All and each of you! I'm not asking for money… I just want your help, I want you to help me to chase our freedom! Please, join me! Let's defeat the church together-
-Baron: (from the balcony) Lloyd! What the hell do you think you are doing?! (pissed) 
-Lloyd: I'm opening their eyes! They must know the truth, you are all in danger! 
-Baron: (gets down next to you) Lloyd, you are committing a big crime towards me right now (serious) 
-Lloyd: This crime is not half as big as what the church will do once they get to cross the doors connecting to your world. You refuse to listen to me, but you know it's true. 
-Camellia: Daddy, are we going to die? (hides behind Baron) 
-Baron: Of course not, dear (smiles and sighs) I'll need to ask you to leave this place and never return again. As I told you, you are scaring my daughter. We don't want to get involved with any kind of war. 
-Lloyd: (groans in annoyance) Don't tell me that I didn't warn you, Baron! You'll regret this, you don't know who you are facing. I'm not the enemy here!
