My phone begins to ring as I groan and try to get up, but Kenji's body is completely on top of me, preventing me from doing so.

I remove his hand from my waistband and reach for my phone, answering the call without verifying the Id.

"Hello?" I say in a hoarse tone. "I need you." Massimo sniffles while he speaks on the phone. He sounds as if he's in tears.

And Massimo never cries.

I'll be there." I get up quickly, washing and brushing my teeth instead of taking a shower, I make sure Kenji is tucked up before leaving the room.

Outside the door to Massimo's room, I can hear yelling. Before entering, I take a deep breath and look around to see an elderly woman and Massimo fighting.

"Do you bring that man into your room every day for that reason?" She yells, and she's most likely his mother.

"Who you are?"I ask her, she glances at me before replying. "I'm his mother," She says while raising her head high.

I gaze at Massimo, who seemed to have been crying for a long time. Massimo wasn't the one who was affected by emotions. As a result, watching him weep was a rare occurrence.

"What's the matter?" I ask."This man up here, whom I raised for ten years, says he loves a man," She gives him a disgusted expression.

He's gay?

She begins to feed Massimo insults about how worthless and stupid he is. And how she spent the better part of her life trying to provide for him only for him to become gay.

"What's the big deal about being gay?" I wonder getting irritated. "What's the matter with it? Instead of putting his dick inside a guy's asshole, he should want a family." She yells angrily.

"I don't give a damn if I'm gay! I care if I'm loved! I care if I'm happy" Massimo yells.

"And if you don't care if I'm happy, then what is wrong with you?" As he sits on the bed with his head in his hands, his voice breaks.

She stares at him, emotionless, as she mutters her final words, "you will regret this boy." That's all she says before she grabs her bag and walks out of the room.

As he screams his heart out, I rush up to him and grab him into my arms. I can't imagine what it's like to have a parent reject your loved one.

But it signifies something if it makes a mafia boss cry like a child.

"Can you tell me how you do it?" He asks, Through sobbing, "do what?" I inquire, perplexed "How do you maintain a state of numbness 24 hours?" He glances at me.

He must've forgotten who I am.

"Because, in case you hadn't guessed, I'm a psychopath." He rolls his eyes, "but I enjoy being a psychopath. Things like guilt or love do not burn me." I shrug.

"I also enjoy playing the bad person. Because someone has to fill that void and do the task. At the very least, I'm horrible for a reason."

"It's pointless to love me since, in the end, we're left indefinitely and completely alone." I finish.

"What you don't see in yourself is seen in you by others." He says, "You will find love."

The door swings open wide, showing a furious Kenji standing there just as he's ready to kiss my forehead. He examines our proximity and how we are seated.
