The next morning, Draco woke up to a light pressure on his lips. "Mm."
"Good morning," Harry whispered against him.
"Mmm, good morning." Draco stretched and slung an arm around Harry, cuddling him.
"How does it feel waking up to be a free man?"
Draco opened his eyes, getting a perfect view of Harry's smile. Draco immediately smiled back at him. And then he thought. "Amazing. Peaceful." And then, "Overwhelming." He licked his lips and shifted. Harry adjusted so their legs were intertwined.
"How so?"
"I haven't been innocent since I was fifteen. I hope I know how to do it properly."
"It looks good on you," Harry found his hand under Draco's shirt.
"Yeah?"
Harry nodded with a smile sneaking on his face. "Really hot, actually."
Draco blushed and bumped their noses together before he dove for several warm, long, happy kisses.
And then Harry pulled back. "And now we get to go to class holding hands, with no reservation. No fear. No hiding. No feeling guilty. We can actually say that we made it."
"This has been the most insane week," Draco let out a light laugh.
"Absolutely insane," Harry agreed, looking in between his eyes. And then he thought. "I get to wake up to you every single day like this. For the rest of our lives."
Draco just smiled and captured his lips again, enjoying the sweetness, the calmness and absolute joy that came from their new and permanent reality.
And then Draco's eyes watered slightly, just because he knew it in his soul that he was telling the truth: "We get to be happy."
Everyone got bored with them after a few days, and for the first time, they could live a normal life (as much as they possibly could with their trauma).
They held hands on the way to class. They sat next to each other in class. They ate meals together in the Great Hall, out in the open. Harry's invisibility cloak remained in his trunk, untouched.
They were finally free to live their lives, focus on healing and school.
Valentine's day was never a day Draco ever celebrated. In fact, he hated it, even if he did have a fiancé to share it with. Back when they were only boyfriends, Draco never allowed Harry to do anything special from it, and Harry didn't like it either. It didn't make sense to them that one day was used to serenade love instead of all of them. They both always hated it when the Great Hall was pink and plastered with hearts.
All the couples sat together at morning breakfast no matter the house, except for Draco and Harry, who walked down together as but separated during breakfast, just to make the statement that they rejected Valentine's Day.
Though, across the hall, they locked eyes and began having a conversation with them. Next to Draco, Theo Nott was having a tongue war with Millicent Bulstrode and Draco flicked his eyes twice to them before sticking out his tongue and pointing his finger at it. Harry laughed and returned to his meal, although he was grossed out by the battles going on around him. He was digging into his toast when someone squeezed next to him.
"Harry, why aren't you with Malfoy?" Alex Denshaw, a Sixth Year Ravenclaw got unreasonably close to him. "Are you two in a fight?"
"No-"
"Because it is Valentine's Day and I'm sure you'd be wanting company."
"No, thanks, I'm fine," Harry said awkwardly, sipping on his pumpkin juice. He could smell his cologne from across the room, let alone being right next to him, sent him gagging. Times like this made Harry adore Draco's soft scent.
