Mute but Cute

Everest POV:

I look at the cute and clumsy Marshall as he plays soccer with my other friends on the school campus.

...Did I just really say he's cute? I ... probably just misspoke. But, I do have to admit that he's quite adorable when he tries so hard to do something.
That thought came across my mind as he blocked Chase's powerful shot with his head.

"Great block Marshall!" Chase complimented him.

Marshall just gave a thumbs up and smiled.

How is he not dizzy after that?

However, there is one thing that's special about him though. It's that he's mute. Well. Kinda mute. He can still hear sounds, and Although he doesn't talk we could still vaguely understand what he's trying to say, or signal us.

Although he's like that, that Makes him more interesting than the others, in my opinion at least.

"Looks like someone has a secret admirer." I heard a familiar sweet voice speak from behind me.

I turned my head and saw that it was my best friend Skye with a big grin.

"Who?" I asked.

"Marshall, who else?" She still kept that grin. I got a little flustered.

"M-marshall?! N-no- I was just watching!" I said that with just partly the truth.

" suuuure sis..." She just tapped my shoulder and left towards Them. It was obvious that she didn't buy it.

I didn't put anymore thought into what she did. I turned back just as Marshall turned towards my direction.

He saw me and smiled sweetly while waving. I waved back blushing, then promptly turned away my look and walked away leaving him confused.

After a few dozen steps I realized what I did,

Why did I ran away? And why do I have butterflies in my stomach?
Do I... Like him? No... I can't...  can I?
I mean we have been a little close, but not as close to as him and Chase's relationship.

I denied the thought and checked my next class, which is Music. I can't say that I'm good at this subject, I do know piano but... I get pretty nervous when playing around other people... Plus I only know a few simple songs because I never had time to learn the hard ones.

*Criiiiiing!!!

The school bell rang signalling that lunch was over.
I sat on one of the desk and waited for the rest of my class to arrive. There was just me, Skye, Chase, Rocky, Zuma, Ruble, and Marshall. And a just 3 more students

Marshall cheerfully walked inside and looked around for a place to sit. But he accidentally tripped while walking by Sweetie's seat.

"Hehe how clumsy of you." She said.

"Ugh, and to add up to him being mute." Silvia added.

"Hurry and get up Dweeb." Gasket said seemingly annoyed.

Chase looked at them fiercely. He was his best friend after all. He hated it when he's being treated like that. If it weren't for Skye who's sitting next to him, trying to calm him down since the teacher was in front, he would have stood up and gave the three of them a morning wake up call.

Rocky, Ruble and Zuma gave the same reaction but managed to hold themselves together. But they gave them silent glares.

Marshall didn't seem to mind though, he quietly stood back up, dustying  himself and proceeded to walk towards me. He sat on the seat next to me and gave a friendly smile.
