"She was drowning, the sea was not engulfing her. It was her own mind. Her biggest enemy was herself."

Volume 1

Regret. An expression with emotions that was certainly a well known guest in Verity's home. The sudden flicker of appearance was enough to remind her of the visitors in her mental confinement. It was as if the guests made themselves home as the years passed by, perhaps gaining the right to be called as households, it was simply more suitable. Justified enough for the expression.

The event from earlier or should she say a few minutes ago, was enough to throw her mind into hard drive. Verity sat in her solidarity, gaze firmly locked on the wall across from her. No longer feeling the warm comfort from her knees.

'I should've kept my mouth shut.' Verity couldn't help but release another silent, irritated sigh.

Regret. The thought of it left a bitter taste in her mouth, it left her dissatisfied. The bigger person would've allowed it to slide, prove the opinion wrong and act better. Demonstrate a reason to gain their trust, and give assurance the demigod will not leave them astray. Well, it's a shame but fortunate Annabeth wasn't partaking this quest. Otherwise an aggressive ear grab, flick on the forehead and an hour long speech would've been torture. An hour? Make it two and a half if he was here with us.

Leaning against the dusty wall, her eyes lands on the trio. Leo hummed while shuffling through supplies as Piper spoke quietly with Jason. Jason. It was perhaps strange she couldn't have hatred against him, a disbelief of her mind clashing with her heart. Deep down, the abyss yet thriving of her heart, it was somehow reasoning with her pathetic excuse of a mind. Refusal to pin the blame of one action against the rest, but the mind clashes against it. It was a betrayal, words that meant every meaning linger across each sentence said, while the boy who somehow managed to slam his body against her out of the sky allowed for such foul words to escape the lips of a friend.

Hurtful. It was an emotional agony hearing such obnoxious words. Though, her favors laid on Leo. An interesting and intriguing character who willingly defended her honor, a note taped in her mind to remind her to apologize towards the Hispanic boy. Unconsciously, her eyes scan the blonde. His appearance gave off the vibe of tiredness, as Verity noticed. The slight fog in his eyes could symbolize dizziness, distorted of the reality yet also hunger. Lastly, Verity realized she has captured a pair of blue eyes with her settling hazel ones. Hastily, she glanced away, dismissing the lock gaze and the eruption of tingles within her stomach.

The isolated girl's action causes the blue eyes to turn into a sulking, saddened color, a frown to match with the dullness. Jason's head was pounding with self-accusations, his days being nothing but a roller coaster without breaks and various twists. Lately, it seems as if the fates weren't on his side as Verity claimed.
