The K.E.M.M.O Girls and the Feburary Disaster

Chapter 5 Midnight Visitor

Brrring.....the home phones rang at the same time. Maddie walks down stairs and answers. “Hello?” “Hi this is the principal of Seymour colgate middle school. Can I speak to Mrs. Freymond?” Maddie had know clue what this phone call was about but answered saying “ Sorry Mrs. Freymond isn't available at the time can I take a message” “ No just tell her to give me a call when she is available” the principal answered.

 

After our principal called Maddie she called Olivia, Emma, Mariah and Kennedy but none of their moms were home to talk to their principal.  After they were all done on the phone each of the girls text each other wondering what that phone call was all about?  They all sat and talked and facetimed each other, they realized that something strange was going on and they needed to figure it out!They just couldn't figure out what was going on.. There was no way that the girls could possibly be dreaming this whole thing, because that would just be impossible!

 

The girls decided that they were going to get together to talk about what has been happening at their school.  They all decided to meet at Kennedys house to talk.  Mariah was the first to arrive, since she lives the closest. “Hey! This is really strange! My mom still isn’t home and my sister is at Grandmas for the night. I think Brad is hanging with some friends and will be home late.”

 

They waited about ten minutes before Emma, Maddie and Olivia got there. The girls had some serious things to discuss. They started with the mysterious situation about their moms. The girls thought it over and decided since no one was home, to stay there and sleep over. During their sleep over they played board games, and then they had frozen pizza, from a box for supper, since no one knew how to make anything else.  While they ate they decided that they were going to watch a movie. So they chose a scary movie called "The walking dead", the title was already freaky, but they watched it anyway. The movie ended around 8:00, so they had some time to talk. They discussed the mystery about their moms for a little while, "I love mysteries like this, they get me asking so many questions." Mariah said excitedly! "I know I love when they get all scary, that's when they get interesting." Kennedy exclaimed.

 

They kept talking until Olivia looked at her phone to see what time it was, it was already 10:30 and they all slept in the living room on some mattresses. It’s was past 1:30 and Emma woke up because she heard a door open and shut.  She quietly woke up the rest of the girls.  Kennedy bravely got up and went into the kitchen to see if anyone was there. She looked around the island in the middle of her kitchen. She looked at the back door, but everything looked fine. She didn't know what to do. She looked around the house and then saw that her Dogs food bowl had been knocked over and that had been the noise that Emma must have heard.

 

After Kennedy picked up the dog bowl everyone went back to bed, as they were falling asleep Olivia jumped up and screamed! Everyone was crowding around her and saying “what’s the matter Olivia? What happened?” but Olivia just sat there and said “ I saw something in the kitchen and I don’t know what it is!” Kennedy got up and went into the kitchen and looked everywhere but there was nothing there so she went back into bed and said, “Olivia there is nothing in the Kitchen I looked everywhere!” The girls couldnt figure out what startled Olivia but it must of been something, because they all knew that Olivia would never try to trick them. It was already past 2:00am and all five of the girls were still awake, “Girls I can't seem to fall asleep because of what Olivia said, you know how she saw something in the kitchen!’ whispered Mariah. “I know I’m kinda getting scared now.” said Emma.

 

“Guys its fine everything's, gonna be alright, I'm sure it was nothing”. Kennedy whispered. Everyone agreed and started to change the topic to school. They talked about homework, projects and upcoming events.  The girls decided that they couldn't fall asleep so they went into the kitchen to grab a midnight snack. As they walked into the kitchen the girls went exploring to find something yummy that they could eat at a time like this.

 

Mariah opened up the kitchen cabinet to find something to eat and screamed, “Ahhh!” Its a big huge hairy rat!. The girls stopped what they were doing and started screaming as loud as they could. Just then the big hairy rat jumped out of the cabinet and ran across the kitchen floor, as the dog jumped out of her bed chasing the rat, Kennedy's mom came down stairs and said, “Girls stop that!” The girls stopped screaming and looked at Kennedys mom in amazement, “Mom when did you get home”? Kennedy asked, “I got home around one thirty.” Her mom said

 

“It was so dark in here that I accidentally tipped over that dog food dish, I’m so sorry if I woke you up!” the girls looked at each other and laughed, they were so embarrassed. “Now you guys better get back to bed you have school tomorrow.” As the girls got back into their beds Maddie said “I’m surprised she didn’t ask why we were all here” “I know right,” says Emma “Girls I think we better get to bed we have school tomorrow”, whispered Kennedy. “Ya we should, you never know what Mr. Bumble is going to put us through tomorrow” stated Emma.

 

As the girls drifted off to sleep they dreamed about what tomorrow was going to bring! But there was one girl that just couldn't fall asleep it was..Emma she couldn't get to sleep so she, decided to go outside and see what the wintery night sky would look like at midnight, so she got up and put on her winter boots. She didn't bother putting on all of her winter clothing so she just put on her boots and her coat, and walked out the front door, trying not to wake anyone else. As she stepped down the front steps of the house she looked up and saw, the most beautiful sight she ever saw, the moon was shining bright, there were different colours of lights in the sky, it was lightly snowing which made it look even more astonishing. “Wow this is amazing, I have never seen anything else like this before.” she whispered to herself.

 

She walked around the front yard towards the road, all of a  sudden she heard a sound, it sounded like someone was talking, she looked across the road, and saw a man walking his dog. She overheard him saying. “Sunny boy get over here we need to get back to bed, its late, we need to prepare.” Emma couldn’t figure out what it meant, so she decided that she was going to go back inside and try to  fall asleep, considering it was school tomorrow, as she walked up the front steps, she slipped on the first step, and fell right on her tailbone. “Owww, that really hurt, she hobbled back into the house, quickly took off all of her stuff, and tiptoed back into the living room, where all of the girls were sleeping.

When she got into her bed she picked up her phone and looked at it, it was 2:00am, and she still didn't feel tired so she got up and went to the washroom to see if that would help her fall asleep faster. When she approached the bathroom, she went straight to the toilet because she really had to pee, after that she flushed and went to go and wash her hands, she dried off her hand on the towel that was hanging beside her. In the mirror she looked at herself and thought for moment. “Wow I looked exhausted!” she said that quietly while yawning. She turned the tap on so that it was nice and cold, put her hands in it and wiped the water on her face. Thats usually what she does if she couldn't fall asleep at her house. Now she felt that she was ready to go to bed, so she went back into the living room, and cuddled into her blanket. After a little while she fell fast asleep.
