That night all the girls texted each other wondering why Mr. Bumble left the room so mad and then came back and didn’t even say a word. It was about 9:00 pm when the were done texting and decided to go to bed because they had an exciting day planned for tomorrow.

The next day when all the girls woke up they ran and looked out their window and all that they saw was a lot of fresh, fluffy snow and a freshly plowed road, just then all the girls ran to their phones and looked on the seymour colgate school website to see if it was a snow day. It said “Goodmorning student unfortunately school is closed for today, because of the immaculate weather. Stay safe, more importantly warm.”

As Kennedy looked to see if it was a snow day her little sister Addison came running and jumped on her bed saying  “Kennedy its a snow day! What are we going to do first?!” Kennedy got so mad! “Get out of here you little brat!” Kennedy yelled. After she left Kennedy checked her phone...

Maddie: Hey girls what's up? Did you guys see it was a snow day too?

Emma: Hey Maddie nothing much and yea I saw it was a snow day, my mom is still not home yet and us kids don't know what to do!

Kennedy: Hey, really my mom is just about to leave for work.

Mariah:Hey my mom isn't home yet either, what do I do?

Olivia: My mom came home last night but she’s in bed.

Maddie: My mom isn't home yet either!

Emma: Girls can all of you come over for a sleepover?, cause Hailee is at her friends house and so is Amanda so i’m home with Aiden.

Mariah: Yeah I just asked Conner and he said that he just wants me out of the house, so yea! Im sure I can!

Olivia: Same I can to.

Maddie:Yea sure.

Kennedy: Im on my way. Brad doesn’t really care!

Kennedy and Mariah were the first to arrive at Emma’s house. Which didn't really make sense since Olivia and Maddie lived closer. Then 10 minutes later Maddie and Olivia came running in with their snow stuff on. “Hey Emma’s mom didn't say you could have friend over.” Said Emmas little brother Aiden. “ Yes she did brat so go away and don't bother us,” Emma shouted. Aiden went off up stairs to his room where he could play video games.

The girls looked at each other and laughed. “The rule is he has to listen to me and not bother me so he shouldn't be a problem for the rest of the day.” Said Emma. The rest of the girls had decided to put their snow stuff on too since Maddie and Olivia were already dressed to go outside. The girls were so excited to go and play with each other, especially since there was a lot of snow.

As they were going outside Emma was the first one to walk out and lead everyone, and as she was walking out she saw something on the back porch stairs, something she didn’t see this morning, and it hadn’t had been from any of the girls because they came in the front door. “What is that?” Emma said “I think that its a footprint” Olivia said. They knew it wasn’t anybodys foot print in Emmas house because they had checked all of them. But it was weird because nobody knew whose it was and it was the only foot print that was there, it was easy to see because it was in freshly new snow.

It must have been from this morning, early this morning! The girls gazed over the foot print. “Hey look! The size is way too small for my dad and its too big to be mine but it could be my moms!” Emma cried out. “Ya what size is your moms feet!” Olivia asked. “Umm...7s!” “Well my feet are a 7 too lets see if they're the same size!” Olivia said putting her boot next to the one on the ground. Sure enough it was the same size!

“Well if its was my mom then where did she go?” Emma wondered. All of them followed the footprints all the way to the creek you had to cross to get to her neighbor's house. “Look! the footprints lead all the way over to the neighbor’s new house!” Mariah called out running to the little bridge. “Wait guys! let sit down on that log and think this over!” Kennedy said catching up to Mariah. The 5 girls sat on the log. “Well...so far we know that Emma’s, Mariah’s and my mom have not returned.” Maddie said. “Yeah! we also found out that my moms foot prints lead to my neighbors house.” Emma added. “Well lets get going!” Olivia said. The 5 girls trotted through the field. Every once in a while the girl tripped on stones or clumps of snow. But they would just get right back up and start to laugh. “Wow it sure is a beautiful day!” Olivia said looking up at the sky.

“Yeah” the girls all nodded in agreement. Maddie quickly got up and went over to a huge drift that was laying there in the middle of the field, she did a cannon ball right in the center of the awesome, fresh snow! All of the girls came running with Maddie and did the same, landing right in the center of a huge snowdrift. They sat there laughing for a little while, they decided that they better continue on their journey to find out where these mysterious foot prints lead.

Just as they were coming over the top of the hill. “Look!” Kennedy hollered running to the house. “There is a couple of cars in the lane! One looks like my moms!” They bolted through the field! Finally the girls arrived at the small, new, brick house. There were several cars sitting in the lane way which was not very long. “Look thats my moms car!” Mariah said approaching it. “Look thats my moms Van!” Olivia said. Kennedy walked to the front door and tapped on it with her glove on her hand. Waited several seconds then the door swung open! There stood…Mr.Higgins!
