NOT DONE!! THE REST HASNT BEEN EDITED. IT'LL BE OUT Wednesday OR MONDAY!!!!!

"Somebody read that." Matthews pointed to the board.

    "No!" I yelled at the same time my sister said, "'History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.' Winston Churchill."

    "And he did." Matthews continued ignoring my outburst. "Who's gonna write their own history here? What is history? I keep forgetting."

    Riley spoke up. "History is time passing."

    "Oh, yeah? How much time? Someone once said, '100 years from now, all new people.'"

    "100 years!" I raised my hand.

    "Wrong." Matthews shot down my answer.

    "You set me up." I blamed.

    "When should you guys begin to make your history?"

    "Right now." Riley said.

    "Good. So, today we're talking about Winston Churchill. When the new people come, how do you want them talking about you?"

    "Nicely?" Riley thought.

    "How long do we have before history makes its decision about us?" Maya questioned.

    Farkle followed up with, "What if they're writing it down now?"

    "Doesn't matter. Chapter one: Introduction. Please read." He said.

    Riley read the passage. "'There is a comfort in knowing that history is fixed. You can no sooner change history than you can change the nine planets in our solar system from Mercury to Pluto.'"

    "Oh..." Everyone, but Riley gasped.

    "Nice job, Mr. Matthews." I complimented him.
    Riley looked confused. "What'd he do?"

    "He just showed us history books can be wrong. You can change history." Cara explained.

    "I don't get it." Riley glanced around the room looking for anyone else who was confused.

    Clem looked at her like she was a mystery. "How can she not know?"

    "Look at the bird!" Maya yelled and pointed. Riley immediately started searching for the bird. Maya turned around to face us. "She doesn't know because she has us."

    "The Riley Committee." Farkle said.

    Maya continued. "The committee exists to keep certain information away from Riley."

    "Like what?" Lucas questioned.

    "Everything, really." Farkle admitted.

    Mr. Matthews ran up to our desks and started whispering with us. "Listen, this committee can't protect her for the rest of her life. She's getting too smart."

    "She's looking for a bird." I pointed out.

    Matthews paused. "Well... Someone's got to tell her."

    "You do it." Maya demanded.

    Matthews shook his head repeatedly. "Nah... You do it!"

    Maya glared at Matthews, but turned to Riley with a sweet face. "Hi, sweetie."

    "Hi, peaches!"

    "See, we've all been protecting you from something. You know Pluto?"

    "Pluto?" Riley clarified. "I love Pluto. Everybody knows that Pluto's a little cutie-pie. The smallest planet with the biggest heart. I love Pluto so much. I would kiss it on the face."

    Maya's face crumbled. "Not doing it!"

    "You're doing it!"

    "Honey?" Maya tried again.

    "Peaches?"

    "Pluto is not a planet anymore."

    Riley's permanent smile on her face seemed to fall for the first time. "What's that you say?"

    "They made a scientific discovery that Pluto's not a planet anymore. Will you be okay?"

    Riley shook her head. "I'm fine."

    I groaned and fell out of my chair. 'I'm fine' was the worst answer you were ever going to get.

    Riley continued despite my distraction. "I am too old now to flip out over something like that. Dad, please continue."

    "You sure, sweetie?"

    "Please, continue."

    "If it makes you feel any better, Pluto is named after the Roman god, Pluto, and he was the god of the underworld and riches." I offered from the ground, but it didn't seem to make anyone feel better. Clem just banged her head against her desk.

    Matthews just gave me a look and continued. "Okay, guys. So, we're talking about who we are now, and who we hope to be someday. How will we write our own history and decide what's important to us?"

    Farkle perked up and a fact spilled out of his mouth. "They found a 100-year-old time capsule in Boston last week. Could we do one of those?"

    "I love that idea, Farkle." Matthews praised him. "In fact, we did one of those when I was in highschool. We were gonna see what had became of us in 15 years. Wait a minute..." Matthews stopped his lecture. "We were gonna see what became of us right now! 15 years is right now. We were gonna go back and see how much we've changed."

"Yeah, well, I hope some of us never do." Maya glanced at Riley.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"How can they just do that?" Riley questioned us, as if we had something to do with Pluto not being a planet anymore. "She works her whole life to become a planet, and then it's just taken from her."
I leaned in to whisper to Clem. "Are we sure Pluto is a 'she'? What if it's a 'he'? What if it's a 'they/them'?"
"Revel, Pluto's a dwarf planet." Clem rolled her eyes as she whispered back to me.
"You're a dwarf planet!" I insulted her.
Clem just shook her head and placed her head in her hands. "Sometimes I wish I was one."
"...years, we'll find out."
"A buffalo nickel." Farkle pointed out. I sat up straighter, a grin appearing on my face.
"That's what you're putting in the time capsule?" I stifled a laugh.
"Yeah, my grandfather gave it to me for--" Lucas cut himself off, and I started to laugh freely.
