⊱ ─ "Captain Blood" ─ ⊰

Daisy was seated next to Julie, she had calmed down thanks to Dean and the three of them were waiting for the team to return from the ice. Team USA had lost against the Iceland Vikings and Daisy was preparing herself for whatever Bombay had to say to the team. The team entered the room in silence, Daisy saw the unhappy expression on Bombay's face and she immediately looked over to Dean and Julie who both took steady breaths in preparation for the lecture from Captain Blood. "12 to 1. 12 to 1!" Bombay shouted, "You know what comes to mind when you think of that? Pathetic!" Daisy looked down and closed her eyes.

She was startled slightly when someone's hand rested on her lower back, she turned her head to see Charlie sitting next to her. "You guys were brought here to play hockey!" Bombay spat as Daisy looked up at him. "What about you?" Jesse asked, angrily. "What about me, Jesse?" Bombay questioned the boy. "Coach Stansson knew everything about us. They were ready for us!" Julie added in defense of Jesse. "Yeah! And you spend your time driving around in convertibles, and talking to all of those sponsor fools," Luis stated in distaste for his new coach.

Fulton and Dean shared a look before Fulton spoke next, "Or hanging with the Iceland lady. We saw you two Saturday night." Dean nodded before backing up his best friend, "Eating ice cream with the enemy. Huh, coach?" The former Ducks all looked at each other before looking at Bombay with betrayed expressions. Charlie was hurt the most by the coach he saw as a father figure, "What?" Bombay looked at Charlie before focusing his attention on the whole team, "Hey, what I do is none of your business, alright. Is that clear?" Everyone shrugged off his words and went to take their equipment off.

"Hey! Don't take those pads off. Everyone stay in your gear, we have practice," Bombay ordered making them all look at him in disbelief. "You're not serious!" Daisy seethed back only receiving a tight nod from Bombay who then walked out of the locker room. Daisy rolled her eyes and put her gear on before heading out to the ice where coach blew the whistle prompting the team to start their sprints. Charlie skated over to Bombay, "This isn't very much fun, Coach." Bombay turned to Charlie, "Who said this was supposed to be fun?" Charlie furrowed his brows, "You did. When you coach the ducks." Bombay simply shrugged, "I don't see any ducks here, Charlie. All I see is Team USA one loss away from elimination."

It was almost two in the morning when Bombay sent the team off to their rooms. Daisy was quiet the whole walk as everyone slowly split up to their separate rooms, Charlie stopped and turned to Daisy. "I'll be in soon," Charlie told Jesse and Adam who both glanced at the blonde girl with concerned expressions before nodding at the Conway boy. Charlie walked up to Daisy, "Hey..." Daisy looked up at her boyfriend with her tired eyes, he carefully brushed her hair behind her ear. "I know you're tired, but I wanted to make sure you know I'm here no matter what. I know today's been rough for us but it'll get better, it always does for us," Charlie spoke quietly.

Daisy wrapped her arms around his torso and rested her head on his chest, she let out a slow breath reminding herself that Charlie and the Ducks were the reason she was there. Her heart and mind were in a battle trying to decide whether or not she should just return back to New York or if she should stay and move to Minnesota to live with her aunt like she had been offered. "I already miss being the Ducks," Daisy said before pulling back slightly, "I don't like this new version of Bombay. But I'm glad I have you, Charlie Conway." She rested her head back on his chest as he ran his fingers through her hair, the two teenagers were just enjoying each other's embrace after a tiring day of hockey.

After a few minutes of just holding each other, Charlie kissed her head then gave her a slow, passionate kiss on her lips before they wished each other goodnight and headed off to their separate rooms. Daisy smiled at Julie and Connie who were just climbing into bed before she had a quick shower, deciding against washing her hair not wanting to get her pillow wet. Daisy got into a random blue shirt and some blue shorts before she climbed into the bed, pulling the blanket up to her chin before closing her eyes focusing on the faint feeling of Charlie's embrace which slowly lulled her to sleep.

The team was exhausted when they got up at seven in the morning for their morning class with Miss Mckay. Everyone was struggling to stay awake in the classroom as Miss Mckay rambled on about some important history event. Daisy had her head on Charlie's shoulder, the boy rested his head on top of hers with her hand in his as they both fell asleep. Miss Mckay carefully but loudly hit the desk startling the team awake. "I understand the loss last night was tough but I need you to pay attention please," Miss Mckay spoke kindly. "It would be easier to focus if we got more than three hours of sleep," Jesse mumbled. "Yeah, Coach kept us at practice till two AM last night," Daisy added as she closed her eyes snuggling into Charlie's neck who blushed lightly.

"That doesn't sound like Coach Bombay at all," Miss Mckay said, mostly to herself. Daisy scoffed lightly, "Trust us, we know." Charlie squeezed her hand before kissing the top of her head. "Coach Bombay? More like Captain Blood," Averman remarked. Daisy lazily pointed at her best friend, "Exactly!" Miss Mckay looked around the room with a worried expression seeing the pure exhaustion on all of their faces. "Class is canceled for today, go back to your dorms and get some sleep," Miss Mckay says, "I'll talk to your coach about you not attending practice." Miss Mckay left the room to speak with Bombay as everyone got up and headed off to the dorms to get some extra sleep.
