(Y/n's POV)
"Not a very good catch today." Massimo said as he looked down at the empty net in disappointment. I sighed as I say down besides Alberto who was starting at the cat that was perched up on Massimo's shoulder.I don't think that the cat liked Alberto very much and I didn't even noticed the fluffy creature in the first place.
"Mr. Marcovaldo, what happened to your arm?" I asked as I looked at his arm which was currently missing. The man looked up from his net then at me. "A sea monster ate it." He simply answered. "Really?" I asked, but my thoughts were interrupted by a gentle nudge from Alberto. "No, he was born that way." Alberto reassured me with a smile. "Oh." I said, my head turning to look at the cat who yowled at me. I flinched at this, my expression turning into a grimace.
The cat continued to glare at me as I clinged onto Alberto for dear life. "That cat doesn't seem to like me very much..." I mumbled as my girl on Alberto tightened. I felt him shudder at this and I couldn't tell if my actions made him uncomfortable or not. But I wasn't going to lie, I was intimidated by that cat.
"Careful with Machiavelli. His claws are sharp." Alberto whispered to me with a teasing smirk on his face. I gulped as I looked at the cat. "Is that so?" I asked nervously as I eyed the cat. The cat gave an irritated hiss, glaring at me. I gulped once more. "Yeah..." Alberto replied, a slight chuckle leaving his mouth. I then grabbed a single fish from the net as the cat jumped down from Massimo's shoulder. It glared at me suspiciously as I hesitationly held out the fish for the cat to take.
He hesitated for a moment, staring at the fish as if weighing its worth. But since I was offering him food, I guess I got him to trust me enough to come over and take it. As soon as the cat stepped forward he snatched the fish out of my grasp and ate it. The cat purred softly as he finished eating his meal. I let out a sigh of relief and relaxed a little.
After that, Machiavelli jumped back onto Massimo's shoulder, giving me that same glare he had earlier. I didn't even realize how much time had passed when I notice that the sun was starting to go down. "Seems like it's getting late." Massimo commented as he looked at the setting sun. "Do you mind if Y/n comes over for dinner Dad?" Alberto asked after a few seconds of silence. My body tensed at this sudden question towards his dad. I bit down on my lip and turned my gaze towards Alberto.
"I don't see why not. Would you like to join us for dinner Y/n?" Massimo asked as he looked at me, waiting for an answer. "I-I mean, I guess my parents won't mind if I stay out for just a bit longer." I replied hesitantly. The mall only nodded and began to steer the boat back to shore. After a while, we made it to land and hopped out of the boat. I looked around, noticing that we were on the same beach that I was on before and quickly picked up my shoes that I left earlier.
I put my shoes back on and stood next to Alberto. "You okay, Y/n? You seem pretty stiff." He commented as he observed me with a concerned gaze, tilting his head slightly in question. "Ah, I'm fine. Just thinking about something, nothing big." I responded quickly as I tried to force my tense body to relax.
As we made it to his house Mr. Marcodalvo walked in while we just stood outside. "Do you maybe want to take a walk to get your mind off of things while he cooks dinner?" Alberto questioned, hoping I would say yes. "Yes, I'd actually like that." I responded with a small nod. With that Alberto opened up the door but not to go in. "Y/n and I are going for a walk, we'll be soon!" He called out to his father, hoping he had heard him before shutting the door.
"Follow me." Alberto said as we both walked out of the yard and onto the sidewalk. "Where are we going?" I asked as we walked right besides each other. "Somewhere we can see the fish more clearly in the sky." He replied with a bright grin on his face as he pointed his finger upwards towards the night sky decorations with stars.
My head tilted upwards briefly and I raised an eyebrow before going back to facing Alberto. "The fish...?" I questioned, confused of why he was referring the stars to fish. "Yeah, and the big fish protects the little fish." He continued as he then pointed to the moon. I couldn't help but giggle at the fact that Alberto was calling celestial bodies 'fish'.
"You do know that those aren't fish right?" I tell Alberto as I gaze up at the billions of twinkling lights in the sky. "What do you mean? Of course they're fish." He responded with a confident smile. "Those are stars, dummy..." I giggled. "Besides, I don't think we need to go somewhere just to seem them. They're already bright enough." I smiled.
"Let's head back then." Alberto suggested as we both started to walk back to his place.
–Timeskip–
(Alberto's POV)
After a bit of walking, Y/n and I made it back to my house and went inside. We both we're greeted by the smell of cooked pasta. "Dinner is ready, please make yourselves comfortable." Mr. Marcovaldo said as he takes a seat. Y/n and I both took a seat next fo each other while Massimo sat in front of us."So, Y/n, where are you from?" The old man questioned as he raised an eyebrow. Y/n waa about to take a bite from her pasta until she heard that question. "I'm from here. Though my parents never really explained to em whether or not I was born on land." She shrugged as she shoved the fork in her mouth and swallowed the pasta.
"How come I've never seen you are your parents before? This town isn't big you know." Massimo asked, I didn't bother to say anything though, I just kept eating my pasta while watching the two of them converse. "My parents have always kept me indoors. I never really go out unless I ask permission. My mom always stays home and ny dad always works at some buisness." She explained.
"They're over protective of me." She then adds with a small frown. "Sounds rough." I chimed in as I finished the last bite of my pasta. And the way I said that so nonchantly earned me a glare from Massimo and I couldn't help but give him a sheepish smile too. I could also feel Y/n's glare as well. Though her glare seemed more confused than irritated. I then cleared my throat, trying to clear the awkward tension surrounding the dining table.
Mio dio, there's no reason to make this sence even more awkward than it already was. Otherwise I'd be ashamed for embarrassing myself in front of a cu– I MEAN cool girl. "S-So, Y-Y/n, tell us more about yourself." I stuttered. Damn it, why do I keep making a fool out of myself?!
"Well, I like drawing and playing violin. I'm self taught on that instrument..." She chuckled sheepishly. "You're into the arts too?! C-Cool! I mean great, so am I." I exclaimed, trying to save myself from my nervous stuttering. "Thanks... But I think that might be all." She responded with a smile.
It didn't take long dor them to finish their meals and once they did we all put our dishes in the sink. "Thanks for inviting me over Mr. Marcodalvo, I appreciate." Y/n thanked Massimo with that sweet smile of hers. The old man nodded in reply.
(Y/n's POV)
Silence fell over the room for a couple of minutes as Massimo began to load the dishes into the dishwater. My eyes wandered over to the clock on the wall which read 9:00pm which made my heart drop into my stomach and my eyes widened.W-Was I really gone for that long? Crap Mama and Papa are going to kill me whenever I get back home. So I turn to give Alberto a hug and greeted the two men farewell.
I rushed over to the entrance of the house and made my way back to the place that I called home. I just hope to god that I won't get killed by my parents for coming home late or let alone grounded.
