Courting Season [2]

Author's POV

Sunwoo stood in a large field along with other young alphas and some betas who were taking part in the courting and mating season. The courting season will be starting after a while. All the alphas were waiting for the head alpha to announce the start of it. The moment it is announced the young alphas would be going for a hunt. They have to catch preys that will impress the omegas they wanted to court. It was a way to show that they had the potentiality to provide for them and their family and also for the pack.

What made the hunting hard is that each alphas has to take down a prey by themselves unlike the usual hunt where they take down a prey or two or even more together as one. But it was all worth it if they omega was impressed with their catch. Just then the head alpha walks up followed by the Luna and of course Chanhee who had a flower crown on his hands. Every alphas got down on one knees, bowing their head to show respect to their head alpha.

"Rise young alphas and betas." The head alpha spoke. All the alphas stood up. "Today marks the start of courting season which will be followed by mating season. Finding a mate is very important and serious. Remember we mate only once in our life. Once you choose to court someone and if they accept you too then you shall be loyal to them. I have high expectations from everyone joining this. With greats wishes from the moon goddess I announce the start of courting season." The head alpha announces and everyone cheers.

Everyone soon quiet down so that the head alpha or the Luna to speak further. "To mark the start of courting season the alphas will go for a hunt. Your prey shall be presented to the omega or beta you desire to court and if they accept it then you shall continue courting them until the mating season. Courting is a crucial time where you have to show the beta or omega you want to court how they will be treated if they were your mate and your potentiality as a mate." The Luna speaks.

"With no further ado let's start the hunt. Get in a line!" The head alpha announces raising one of his hand. The alphas and beta who were taking part all got into a line getting ready. Chanhee looks at his father who smiles at him. With a gulp he walks towards the field and towards where Sunwoo was standing. Everyone noticed and watched him as he stood in front of Sunwoo. "Hyung.." Sunwoo says surprised.

"Kim Sunwoo I know this is a little unusual but I have had my interest on you. I wish to have you as my alpha. My mate. And so with this flower crown I ask you to accept me as your omega. And the permission to court you." Chanhee says blushing as he holds out the flower crown. Various alphas and betas gasp at the sudden confession. Sunwoo stands there wide eyed not expecting this. He looks at the flower crown in Chanhee's hand. 'They are so cute.' he thought to himself as he gulped. He never thought Chanhee would feel this way towards him. He was joining the courting season because he wanted to try his luck with Chanhee but he didn't really expected Chanhee to feel the same towards him.

"I... I accept." He stutters, his cheeks turning a shade of pink as he takes the flower crown from the older's hand. The crowd cheers. "I think we already know our next potential head alpha now." Younghoon jokes from the other side but genuinely happy for the younger. Sunwoo hands back the flower crown with a blush. "Keep it safe. I will take it when I come back from the hunt." He says. Chanhee nods. He gives a quick hug to the younger. "Take care." He says. 'God he smell so good.' Chanhee internally groans  as he walks away with a red face.

After a minute or two later the hunt starts after a brief countdown. Chanhee goes to Changmin after Sunwoo and the other wolves were gone. "I am nervous." He announces. "It is not just you. I want hoonie to come back fast. I told him that I would be happy even if he just came with a mouse or something. I don't care what he catches as long as he is safe." Changmin says as he flops down the ground. "The hunt can take days to end." Chanhee sighs as he flops down beside Changmin.

"Do you think they will be able to catch a big prey?" Changmin asked. "Yeah. But they have to go a bit far from here. Appa said there are big preys a little far away from here." Chanhee says with a shrug. "I hope they don't get hurt during the hunt." Changmin says pouting. Chanhee can only sigh and internally pray for Sunwoo's safety.

[Time Skip]

It has been 1 and a half day. Chanhee had started being upset now. None of the alphas were home yet. And he was getting more and more nervous for Sunwoo. What if he got hurt? What if something happened? Chanhee frowns as he picks the red berries. Just then a voice calls his name. Changmin comes barreling in. "CHANHEE THEY ARE COMING BACK." He literally screams and jumps in happiness. "Come on come on! We should go see if Sunwoo and Hoonie are here." Changmin squeals.

Chanhee puts down the little basket he was holding as he and Changmin runs out towards the field. Chanhee looks around. And his eyes finally falls on Sunwoo. He hastily walks towards him. He saw little scratches on Sunwoo's face as he gets closer. He gets close enough to see what Sunwoo had hunted. An elk. A fucking elk. It is big from what Chanhee can see. "Sunwoo." He calls out as he runs right into the younger alpha's embrace.

Sunwoo wraps his hand around him, a little surprised at how close Chanhee was to him. His sweet scent a little bit overwhelming. "You are back." Chanhee says relief and happiness flooding in him, as he slowly pulls away. "Yeah. It took a little longer as I had to go a little far to get th elk. I.. I hope you are happy with what I caught." Sunwoo says with a little stutter. "I would have been happy even if you were to bring me an ant." Chanhee says laughing. Sunwoo grins. "I am glad." He says.

They fall into a silence for a while. "So you really want to be my mate?" Chanhee asked, his heart beating fast as he anticipates Sunwoo's answer. "Yes." The younger answers firmly. Chanhee literally lips up with a bright smile. "Thank you. I have been wanting you to be my mate for a while." He confesses.

Without any word Sunwoo pulls Chanhee close. His nose running along the older's neck in an affectionate way. "I am glad you feel that way towards me." He answers feeling proud at the fact that out of every alpha Chanhee chose him. Chanhee pulls away slightly but not before leaving a light kiss on the alpha's neck. "Well then I will see you court me alpha Kim. Because you still might have some competition." Chanhee says teasingly, gaining more confidence. With a wave he walks away. Sunwoo stands there stunned but smirks. He was going to knock down any competitor to have Chanhee all for himself.

Hello guys! This is actually the end of Courting Season~ shall I write an epilogue?? Like showing their mating and all *cough* smut *cough*

🤡🤡 let's be honest alpha Sunwoo would be so competitive + possessive. He is already possessive asf as a human. Chanhee would be one hell of an omega though. The type who won't have any problem throwing insult at shitty alphas.
