"Morning... morning... morning..." I mumbled while fiddling with my fingers.

The whispers of dawn filled my head like a sweet melody. My curtains blocked the sunlight from lighting my room up, I didn't want to move from my bed, it's warm.

"It's too early," I rolled to my right and faced my door, "I'm not ready for today. It feels like too much."

I attend a high school for young heroes in training called U.A. and we have something special to do today. It's all too much for me to handle. Both my parents are well-known heroes, and my brother would have graduated this year... but he... died. The media knows my father as the Harbinger and my mother as Mizu no Megami (Water Goddess) so many people expect a lot from me.

Their quirks are powerful and useful. My mother told me that as I began to grow up, parts of my body that should've been flesh grew out to be a water of an unusual shade. Most of my left leg, part of my neck, most of my tongue not including the tip, right cheek, left eye, a few fingers, part of my right forearm, and almost my whole torso is made of water, and well... everything below my hips, but my right leg and a small part of my left thigh, were too... I also started growing horns that laid back against my hair when I was 7. I guess the water and flesh were developing at the same time which caused the sandy pink water. My quirk comes with many advantages that I have yet to master, but if I try hard enough, I could be the strongest person on the planet. My Grandmother came up with a practice called Hydromancy that only she, my mother, and I know of. It's magical and barely even makes sense, but I have learned a few cool tricks here and there. My father was able to teach me to make the water I control as hard as the hardest metal in the world. I've always wanted to be a hero but as time went on, I've felt too pressured.

I jumped at the sound of a knock on my window, I crawled over and peeked out. My friends were waiting for me, "It's too early... why are they here?"

They waved, "Tiru! Come on, we've got a surprise for you!"

A surprise?, I whispered in my head.

I didn't want to keep them waiting in the cold, I picked out some clothes and freshened up. My mom wasn't home and my dad was out "handling business" as always. I could feel the cold, crispiness of the wooden floor through the soles of my shoes. My breath became visible with each step I took downstairs. As I opened the door, Nejire jumped onto me.

"HEEEEEY BUDDY!"

I sighed with relief, "Good morning, Nejire."

I looked over at Mirio who was hiding something and Tamaki who waved awkwardly, "Oh, hold on, I forgot something." I rushed back inside and grabbed a few packs.

"Here," I held them out to Tamaki, "I thought that these might help you today."

He held a weak smile and put them in his bag.

"Why are you guys here so early?" I pinched my scarf and laid it over my nose.

Mirio and Nejire held shining smiles on their faces, "We have a gift for you!!!"

Mirio motioned to Tamaki who took out a box behind Mirio, "We spent a long time thinking about what you would like."

"For what?"

Tamaki stepped in front of me and handed me the box without a word. I held it in my arms and wondered what it could be.

Nejire placed her hand on the top, "Do you wanna open it now?"

"I mean... do you guys want me to?"

"Just open it." Mirio chuckled.

We sat down at the top stair of my porch as I opened the box.

"H-Happy birthday, Tiru." Tamaki whispered.

Hearing him say that made me realize something I had forgotten myself, my birthday. I could feel my heart melting with joy.

Mirio bounced his legs, "Do you like it?!"

"Yeah, what do you think of it? We went through a lot of trouble finding it for your birthday, well they're not the originals but still the same ones." Nejire hugged me.

I felt my face turn red and began to smile. They put a collage together of old photos we took when we were younger, one was from our first sleepover, our first party together, and of the first day we met. We thought we had lost all these when we moved here. Tears began to leak out of my left eye almost dripping onto our photos.

I pulled them together against me and hugged them, "Thank you."

"Of course, anytime!" Nejire hugged me tighter.

Mirio smiled brightly then pushed us over. We all leaned in onto Tamaki trying to stay balanced, he blushed as we stumbled back up. I wiped my face clean, "Ahh, okay, time to start another day with power!"

Mirio raised his fist into the air and Nejire jumped happily.

I looked over at Tamaki and smiled, he smiled back, this time he looked happy.
