"So tell me again why you're waiting by the phone?" Sam jumped up next to me as I sit on our shared bed.

"None of your business now go away," I say as I shove sam off the bed.

"Hey!" Sam grabs my arm and pulls me down onto the ground with him. We both began tumbling about the floor wrestling with each other. Our WWE match was soon interrupted however by the sound of the phone ringing. We both immediately ran to the phone while trying to trip the other in the process.

I tried to grab Sam before he could get to the phone but he slipped through my arms and made it to the phone first. He was quick to run into the bathroom with it and close the door. Luckily I was strong enough to open the door despite sam using all his body weight to keep it closed. Still, that bought him enough time to get a few words in with Victoria.

"Um hi. Who is this?" I could hear Sammy say through the door.

"Victoria hm?" I could practically hear his shit-eating grin.

"Sam I swear to god I'm gonna kill you!" I yell as I finally pushed the door open. I quickly snatched the phone from his hands and did my best to recover from the embarrassment that is Sam.

"hey Victoria" I try to sound as cool as possible but I have a feeling it's not working.

"what was all that about?" I mentally face palmed as she said this.

"oh uh sorry about that. That was my brother, Sam... So uh what did you need?"

"I was wondering if you still wanted to hang out today? I'm still down if you are" she told me.

"oh yeah totally. I would have called you first but you never gave me your number" I tried to sound as nonchalant about it as possible but in reality, I was really excited to go hang out with this girl.

I don't know what it is about her. I've dated plenty of girls before why does hanging out with her actually sounds fun for once? Maybe it's because for once she actually wants to get to know me. I mean for the first time I wasn't some hotshot new kid that all the girls wanted to be with I was actually someone she seemed to enjoy talking to. that or she's just ridiculously hot. Yeah... It's probably just that.

"oh yeah, here I can give you my number right now." I scrambled out of the bathroom to find something to write it on.

"yeah one sec... okay I'm ready," I said as I finally found a pen and paper. As she read it off to me I made sure to write it in my neatest handwriting so I wouldn't mess it up later.

"Okay, I got it. So when did you want to hang out"

"I'm free right now. If you want I can skate over to the hotel and we can walk together from there"

"that's fine with me...I guess" I cringed at my feeble attempts to not sound too interested. I didn't want her to think I was a creep or something.

"ok cool I see you in a few I guess"

"yeah see ya," I said before hanging up the phone. I turned around only to see sam giving me the most annoying-looking grin.

"Soooo... Victoria huh"

"oh shut up. Why are you acting as if you've never seen me talk to a girl before?" I said shoving his shoulder as I got up to get dressed.

"because you've never tried to hide it from me before," he got up to follow me into the bathroom.

"so what. maybe I just don't like you being all up in my business" I continued to talk with him as I brushed my teeth.

Despite it being 11:30 already neither I nor Sammy had bothered to get dressed this morning. The good thing about dad not being around meant that Sam and I could lay around the room all day and no one would say a thing. Had he been here we would have been up and dressed since 7 o'clock.

"please every other time you've had a girl you were interested in you've never failed to rub it in my face. So, something must be different this time" He said through a mouth full of toothpaste, also deciding it was time to finally get dressed.

"your face is different this time" I couldn't think of a better comeback so that's all I said before rushing into the next room to put on a shirt and jeans.

"fine don't tell me but don't get too attached we never stay long" I frowned at Sammy's words. I grabbed my jacket and the room key off the table and headed for the door.

"Whatever dude. I'm out of here. Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone and if you tell dad I left you alone I'll-"

"kill me I know! I'm probably going to go to the library at some point so if you need me check there."

"Whatever you say nerd." and with that, I closed the door and headed to the front of the building. I only had to wait a few minutes outside before I heard the sound of a skateboard rushing down the sidewalk.

"Dean! hey!" Victoria said as she finally made it to me.

"hey Victoria you ready to go?" I smiled as I got up from where I had been leaning against the front of the building.

"yeah let's do it." She said.

"You have any plans for Halloween? It's only what... two weeks away now?" Victoria asked as we walked towards the gas station. She was carrying her board in her hands so she could walk at the same pace as me.

"probably just taking sam trick or treating. Halloween's always pretty boring for me. I don't even like Halloween that much anyways" We are currently walking shoulder to shoulder and I have to stop myself from smiling too much.

"What! I love Halloween! The amount of free candy I get every year is amazing and I don't even have any siblings. I can't imagine how much candy you can steal off your brother!"

"Yeah, I guess the candy is nice but other than that I just don't get the appeal" It wasn't a complete lie; I didn't get the appeal but for reasons, she couldn't even imagine.

"what are you doing then?" I asked her.

"so far... nothing but I'm sure I'll find something to do. even if It's just buying a bag of candy to eat while I binge some horror movies."

"I know something you can do" By now we had made it to the gas station and were already paying for our slushies. I got a coke one and she got a cherry.

"oh yeah what's that," she said as I handed the cashier the money for both of our drinks. I made sure to pay for her drink. It was the least I could do considering my idea of a date was going to the gas station. It was the best I could think of since dad didn't leave us much money.

"You could come with me and Sammy. I know it seems a little childish but it would make it less boring for me if you were there... plus you said you wanted free candy trick or treating's where it's at" She probably thinks I'm such a loser. Not only was the first place I invited her to was the gas station now I'm inviting her to go trick or treating.

"Childish are you kidding that sounds great!... But I do have one condition"

"oh great what's that" my tone sounded annoyed but my childish smile gave me away.

"You have to dress up with me"
