*Daniel POV*

Somehow, Y/n convinced me to go golfing with her father. I don't want to do this, he'll kill me and bury me in the sand trap for all I know but it's too late. I'm already sitting in the golf cart beside him, and he's driving to the first hole.

"You golf much?" He asks, parking the cart to the side

"No sir, a few of my friends do though" I follow him, getting out of the cart and to the golf bags and grabbing out one that looks identical to the one he grabbed

"You know how to swing?" He lets out a light chuckle which makes me laugh. I don't golf much, but I know what I'm doing

"I like to think so"

"Then you're up first"

I grab the ball and tee from my pocket and set it up at the tee box. I get in my stance and swing, sending the ball at a decent distance. Y/n's father smiles and claps twice before I step back letting him take his shot.

"Not bad" He nods as he set up his ball. He swings sending it at least twice as far a mine went.

We get back into the cart and he starts driving. I want to ask why we're doing this or why he's being nice, but then he speaks.

"How's being married treating you?" Why do I feel like this is a trick question?

"It's going well, Y/n is a fantastic wife and mother, I couldn't ask for a better partner" Her dad stops the cart beside where my ball landed and I get out, ready to continue this game. I line myself when he clears his throat.

"So why did she say there was a lot of bumps in the road?" Just as I was about to swing, he drops that bomb on me

"What did she tell you?" I turn around just to see him a few feet away

"No no, you tell me your side and I'll tell you if the story matches"

Now this sounds like a trick question. There's no way Y/n would tell her dad about Skylar, right? Or the fact the twins aren't mine.. right?

"No relationship is perfect, we've had our fair share of arguments. We've-"

"What do you argue about?"

"All due respect sir, I think that's between your daughter and I" I smile politely, turning back to finally hit the ball

"Are you cheating on her? Or is she cheating on you?" He laughs at his own statement, clearly remembering when he showed up at our house unannounced.

"No" I hit the ball. "And I'd appreciate the game of golf without any interrogation" I spin back around seeing his smiling face now a look of pure hatred.

"You think me wanting to make sure my daughter and grandchildren are safe, is a interrogation?" He steps forward, gripping onto his golf club tighter

"No, you have all right to ask, but as Y/n and I both said, we're happy and the married life is good" I take a step back as I feel beads of sweat form on my forehead

"I'm a cop, my job is to know when people are lying, son" Of course he's a cop.

Without another word from him and without me being able to get a word in, he gets back into the cart and drives off. I watch until he disappears from my view, I find a nice shaded tree to sit under. I place the club down in the grass and pull out my phone from my skinny jeans, since I didn't bring any golfing attire.

I stare at my lock screen for a bit, that's a photo of Y/n and the three kids until I work up the courage to call. She answers after the first two rings.
