Miku
"Are you ready for this, Miku?" Zorome asked excitedly as he walked toward the door with her following close behind.
"Hell yeah!" Miku nodded, a huge grin spreading across her face. "It feels like it has been ages since we've gotten to do anything aside from staying at home! It got so boring and it was annoyed having to stop you from constantly kicking the ball around inside." She gave him an accusing glance.
Zorome shrugged. "Well, what can I say? You said it yourself, Miku. It has been boring as all hell lately with nothing to do."
"Yeah, but that's still no excuse to play with your stupid ball inside the house," Miku argued. "You also played it outside quite a bit, what was stopping you from only doing that instead?"
"Again...boredom? Dunno, I wanted to switch things up. Also, what if I didn't want to go outside." He put his hands on his hips and gave her a long look, to which she responded by rolling her eyes.
"Fine, whatever, we don't have time to argue right now," Miku said. "We have to go tell all the others in our groups that we're ready to go back to teaching. They should be at the Meeting Centre again today since they did say they'd keep doing meetings even if we didn't come."
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Zorome said. "Let's go!"
Miku felt exhilarated at the prospect of going back to her duties once more. It took courage for both of them to be able to but they were ready. She knew nothing could hold Zorome back and she was sure as hell that nothing would ever be able to hold her back either! The two of them were stronger than some crazed psychopaths and if anyone turned out to be like Hyaku the two of them would be able to handle it.
When they arrived at the Meeting Centre, they immediately saw Bani and Sevy talking together outside the front doors. Sevy noticed them and waved at them. "Hey, Banim look, Zorome and Miku are here! Hi guys!"
"Yes, hi!" Bani said quickly, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the two head teachers. Zorome and Miku quickened their pace until they were all standing together. "Are you ready to come back to help us plan out our school?" Bani asked.
"Of course!" Mike replied.
"Have you guys come up with any neat ideas while we were away?" Zorome quired.
"A few...but we didn't want to come up with anything for certain until you guys were here to tell us what you think," Sevy replied. "We wrote down a few things on a list just in case. Nothing too major, just a few ideas for classes and such."
"Good idea," Miku said. "I'm excited to hear what you guys came up with! Is everyone else here?"
"Yes, Sevy and I just wanted to get some fresh air but everyone else went inside," Bani answered. "Everyone's hear aside from, well...Hyaku." Her voice grew solemn as she mentioned the name of their former friend.
"Good," Zorome was smiling. "That sounds like a win to me! Let's go inside, guys!"
Zorome
The meeting went very well and even though Zorome usually found meetings to be incredibly boring and tedious, this one felt more like a relief to him because he'd been beginning to have bad cabin fever from being at home in his little house. Although, he supposed time alone with Miku like that hadn't been all bad...
The future teachers had talked about another practice session with children and had decided to have one in two weeks. They'd have it outdoors and practice their outdoor teaching skills. Zorome was looking forward to doing things that actually involved teaching children. It felt as though all they'd done was dithered on what to do. There was, however, the good news they'd received on the building of the school and he still wanted to have the celebration. He didn't want Hyaku to have dampened the teachers' excitement on that and he thought that such an event was well-deserved. It wasn't fair that the psycho freak had ruined everything that day and had delayed the celebration for so long. Zorome silently cursed himself for not bringing that up during the meeting. It should've been one of the first things on his mind but in his excitement about coming back to business he'd somehow all but forgotten about celebrating their achievements.
As Zorome and Miku headed home together, he thought about all they'd gone through to get to where they were that day. They had trained their entire lives to be parasites and had piloted Argentea together for some time, only to realize that their beliefs and trust in Papa had been a lie and they'd been misled to believe the things they had. Then they'd had to fight one last battle for him and later fight against VIRM to survive on earth. Only then had they been able to live their lives freely, no longer needing to fight in their FranXX against klaxosaurs. Then they'd had to leave their friends back at Bird Nest and start their own journey, finding out that one of their friends had betrayed them the hard way. The two of them had survived many hardships together and because of that Zorome had grown to have many types of adoration feelings for her.
If only he'd ever have the courage to tell her how much he appreciated her. Sure, he'd mentioned it when they had first decided they wanted to be teachers together but he hadn't told her everything he could've said. He wasn't sure he'd be able to tell her anytime soon but he wished he would be able to conjure up the courage to someday...
