Miku

Miku walked happily beside Hyaku, rather enjoying the boy's company. She wasn't used to being around any guy who wasn't Zorome, though she found Hyaku's company to be quite pleasant. He wasn't doing anything to pick a fight with her or boss her around. He was just being...well, almost like a gentleman. It was nice having someone to talk to about stuff she would never be able to talk to her partner about without starting a fight.

He'd just finished showing her a pond that had little koi in it, then proceeded to take her to a feel other neat places, such as a brook, a neat hill, and a cool pile of rocks in the middle of a clearing. There were more trees in the area than Miku had been expecting! She sort of wished she'd gotten to explore it earlier with Zorome.

Wait, what am I saying? She thought to herself. I'm glad I get to see these places before him! Ha! I just wanna see the look on his face when I tell him.

"Well, this has been pleasant," Hyaku commented as they walked over to where the houses were once more. "I quite enjoyed walking with you, you know?"

"Me too," Miku nodded. "It was fun!" She glanced up at the sky. It was beginning to get dark. The sun would set soon. "I guess I should go home soon. I'm kinda tired."

"Good idea," Hyaku agreed. "I'm starting to get a bit tired as well. Would you like me to walk home with you?"

"Sure," Miku replied. "Sounds like fun."

Once they reached the houses, Miku and Hyaku walked together until they reached the place where she and Zorome lived together. She glanced at the door, which was closed, and wondered if her partner was inside. She guessed that he was. Ever since they'd had that massive argument, he seemed to be eager to go to bed earlier.

"Hey," Hyaku said before Miku could open the door. "I was wondering if you wanted to come to the beach with me tomorrow? Not to swim or anything, just to walk and talk."

Miku nodded. "Sure! Sounds nice to me!"

With that, she said goodbye to her friend and stepped into the house. It got very dark in there during the evening hours since they had nothing to light the place with but her eyes adjusted after a few moments and she was able to see the basic outlines of things in the tiny room. As she suspected, Zorome was fast asleep. Or at least she thought he was. It was hard to tell. He was on his bed and refused to talk.

"Hey." She tried to say. He didn't reply. Sighing, she walked over to her own bed and lay down.

By the time the weekend came along, Zorome had still not gotten his act together. However, this time he seemed eager to get to the meeting, leaving even before Miku had finished getting herself pulled together. He'd brought some papers along too.

Zorome

"Hi," Zorome said flatly with an angry glare on his face as he shoved past Hyaku, the only person in the Meeting Centre. The other boy had been waiting in the main room all by himself. "Was hoping I'd be the first one here." Out of all the people, why does it have to be this idiot who arrives first?

"No need to be such a dick, you know?" Hyaku followed Zorome over to the benches. "It's your dickish attitude that caused Miku to jump straight into my arms."

"Say what?" Zorome swung around to glare at him.

"What? Don't tell me you don't know Miku has been talking to me every day, spending every moment with me." Hyaku had a smirk on his face. He crossed his arms. "I've seen you near my house, you know? In that open area in those trees. I know you've seen her."

Zorome spluttered for a moment, unable to figure out how to say words. "Y-you've seen me?" He shook his head, though he silently cursed himself for not being more careful. "Whatever! Just because she's visiting you doesn't mean she suddenly wants a new partner."

Hyaku chuckled darkly. "We'll see about that," His tone was mocking as he spoke. "She doesn't seem to be that pleased with your childish behaviour recently. She seems like she'd be the perfect replacement for my old partner."

Zorome almost threw a punch at Hyaku's face then and there. He was about to shout about the bond he and Miku shared and how he refused to allow her to be scooped up by some idiot she barely knew when the doors opened. Miku walked into the room.

"Hey, Hyaku," She said warmly, before turning and coldly adding, "and Zorome. What's going on?"

"Oh, nothing," Hyaku replied in a cloyingly sweet tone that made Zorome want to vomit. "Just trying to get Zorome to understand things, that's all."

Miku snorted. "That's an impossible feat!"

Zorome's heart was pounding and blood was rushing powerfully within his body. But he didn't want to fight. Not here. He was too shaken by what Hyaku told him. I refuse to lose my partner! I won't let that happen EVER! He thought fiercely.

Yet he didn't know how to mend things if she didn't want to listen.

Once the others arrived, the meeting went rather smoothly. They discussed how they'd go about the school and what subjects would be taught, though Zorome kept reminding them he wanted to plan the curriculum first. He didn't add that he wanted to with Miku, though deep inside he really did want her to plan and approve of everything with him. His pride was currently getting in his way of admitting it due to the argument they'd had.

"We're going to have to probably begin without the school building if it isn't built soon," Miku told them. "I mean, a lot of younger kids are really confused right now and need to be taught things. We can do outdoor classes for now?" She suggested.

"I think that's a good idea," Hyaku immediately agreed.

"Yeah, sure, whatever." Zorome sighed. As much as he hated to admit it, they were right. Miku's idea was amazing and would likely be what they had to do in order to get things to go smoothly.

He wondered when the two of them would be able to talk and bicker like they used to, and when the stupid rift would go away forever.

He missed her...
