"Good morning, Kanye."

"Shut. The fuck. Up."

"Look the only reason your strict ass parents let me in here is so that I could get your butt up for school"

Alex looked at me with a stern look. I shivered. Alex can be scary when they are serious.

"Alright alright. But only if you buy me breakfast," I said with a smirk.

"Fine but only because your birthday is in like two days."

And with that I pulled my lazy ass out of bed.

Alex watched while I struggled to get ready due to my lack of sleep. At one point I dropped my hairbrush under the table and when I pulled myself back up, I bumped my head on the edge of it. Alex started to laugh hysterically.

"It's not even that funny. And you try running on three hours of sleep and an Oreo," I said with a scowl.

"I'm so sorry but this shit is too funny. I should record you from now on so that if it happens again I have it forever," they said in a teasing tone.

"If you're just going to make fun of me then you can go wait on the couch in the living room."

"Hmm... Lemme think. How about no," I could hear the smirk that was forming on their lips as they said this.

"Well, it's a good thing I'm done getting ready then," I said while grabbing my backpack and skateboard off the wall.

☆Time skip☆

"5...4...3...2...1..."

BRRRRRIIIING

HALLELUJAH! Lunch was finally here. The only thing is the halls; so many people in one place, it was overwhelming to me. Especially with all my anxiety, I always felt like everyone's eyes were focused on me.

I took a deep breath and readied myself at the door. I walked out and immediately turned my eyes to the ground. 'If I can't see them then they can't see me' I think to myself.

After what felt like an eternity I went to the spot where me and Alex always meet.

I sat down and not even thirty seconds later I see Alex, with a big goofy grin, making their way towards me.

Oh no, what now. I know this look and it always leads to trouble. It never fails.

"So...I was in class today," Alex says instantly.

"And a hello to you, too," I say back, sarcasm dripping from my words.

"Why don't you and I get fake I.D.s and go to a clubbing for your birthday. I know a guy who can hook us up."

Like I said, never fails.

"I would like it if we stuck to our original plan and I think our parents would, too."

"Ugh fine, but you need to learn to lighten up a little and have some fun," Alex said.

"I'm sure I will one day," I smiled.

"On a serious note, though, could I add one more step to our ENAOB?"

"ENAOB?" I ask. What the hell are they talking about now?

"Yeah. I came up with it last night at like 2:00 am. It stands for Eden's Now an Official Adult Birthday. What do you think? It has a nice ring to it, don't you think?" Alex declares proudly.

"I think it has room for improvement. A lot of room. A-anyways what is the extra step to our... umm... ENAOB?

"Oh, so instead of just going to the arcade and getting ice-cream after, could we also go to my house and eat dinner with my mom? You know how she thinks of you as her own daughter, and she wants to be there to celebrate your birthday, too, "Alex says this with their hand on the back of their neck.

"Of course! I would love that." I spoke with a huge smile on my face.

Alex's mom has always been there for me when my parents were too busy with their jobs. She even offers to take me in when I'm feeling suffocated by their pressure. She is the adult figure in my life that I look up to.

"OK, then its settled. I'll pick you up at 4:00 pm in two days' time."

"You know I have a car, right?" I ask Alex. Sometimes they can be very forgetful.

"Yes, but no queen should waste energy on her birthday."

"You flatter me."

BRRRIIING

"Ok how the hell was that a whole lunch period?" Alex said while looking up to the sky, addressing no one in particular.

I laugh at their antics and stand up.

"Hey, I'll see you after school, OK?" I ask while slinging my backpack onto my back.

"Yeah sure. Oh, and don't forget that we're going to the park today," Alex calls back while walking away.

"When did we decide this?" I call back confused.

"Just now"

"Of course. Classic Alex," I mutter to myself and roll my eyes.

I start my journey through all the crowded halls to my dreaded next class...English.

As I'm looking at the ground, I start to think. Alex said that their brother was in town. Did they ever mention anything about him, other than he's a boy and is older than them? I can't recall anything about it. Oh wait. The other thing that I know is that he is half Japanese, just like Alex and that he went back to Japan with their father. Wow, I've never met anybody that has lived in Japan before.

"This should be interesting," I mumble to myself while walking through the open door of English class.
