Chapter 11

"Heeeey, Eden."

I open my eyes a little. They focus and I see a pair of brown eyes. "Alex?"

"So, you are alive. Happy birthday."

I throw the blanket off me. A blanket? When did that get there? "Hey Alex, did you put this blanket on me?"

"Nah, I just woke up." Alex pauses, "And my mom's still at work." Their eyes get wide, "That means that Seishi...aww that's so cute."

"Shut up. He was probably just being kind."

"Stop downplaying it. I think he's into you."

I roll my eyes. No way. We haven't even known each other for three days.

The front door opens and Seishi walks in. "Hello."

"Hi," Alex and I say at the same time.

"Happy birthday," he says to me.

"You already said that," I smirk.

"You're right, I did." Seishi walks over towards me.

I sit up on the couch and Alex sits beside me. Seishi hands me a wrapped box.

"A present for you. Also don't tell my mom about this," he puts his hand behind his neck. Alex looks at him suspiciously.

I tear open the box and turn it over. The front reads "iPhone". I gasp. "What? I-I can't accept this." I look up at Seishi.

He smiles, "It wasn't that expensive, and I want you to feel like you have some sort of freedom in your household."

"DUDE! That's genius!" Alex springs up from the couch.

"No, I won't. Please return it and get your money back."

"Please?" Seishi asks softly. How can I say no to him?

I look at the box and sigh defeatedly. "Thank you." I smile and start opening the box. Alex fist pumps the air while jumping up and down. I look at Seishi and he gives me a grin. I swear this man is something else.

I look at the phone and realize it's the latest model. I can't believe this. I power on the phone and the bright screen with the bitten apple shows up. I start to go through the whole process of setting on the phone. Alex sits down on the couch beside me and Seishi starts to walk upstairs.

When I finally get to the home screen I click on contacts and hand the phone to Alex.

They look at me confused. "Could you put your number in?" I say.

"Oh, yeah sure." They start to press numbers.

"Ok done. I'll be right back." Alex gets up and takes the phone with them.

"Hey wa- "

"Trust me on this," Alex calls back to me.

I pout. I wanted to finish setting up my home screen.

A couple minutes later Alex comes back and hands me my phone.

"What did you do?" I ask skeptically.

"Wait for it."

"What?"

DING

I look at the phone and open it up.

I look at Alex and raise my eyebrows, "Is this Seishi?"

"Bingo! I named him for you, but don't worry, I did it after I left his room."

I put my head in my hands and start to laugh. At least he didn't see.

"I'll send out the wedding invitations," Alex teases.

I roll my eyes and smile at the screen. For once in my life, I got my crushes number.

"I'm going to bed. Buenos noches."

"Goodnight," I say to Alex while they walk upstairs. "Meet you there in a bit."
