I avoided Vincent every day at school for over two weeks now. Jessie kept close to me at all times, walking me to classes, sitting next to me during lunch, and even escorting me home. He felt like my own body guard, but to everyone else i can tell by their glances, it looked like we were going out. Even Leanne asked me about it.
"Are you two dating?" she asked me one day after school when we were heading to the parking lot.
"What!? No!" I gasped. "You know we are just friends nothing more, trust me if we were, you'd be the first to know."
I saw Jessie by my buggy, leaning against the rusty frame. He saw me and his eyes gleamed a little at the sight of me, i smiled happily and ran to him. Ever since that day with Vincent we became closer. I never realized how much we had in common till that day. He lifted me in his arms and held me tightly to his chest, and little butterflies filled my belly. I'm not going to lie, i am starting to develop a crush on Jessie, but i didn't want to ruin the friendship we had at the moment. He was just someone i always wanted in my life.
"Eh-hem," someone cleared their throat to separate us from each other. We pulled away from another, just to see a suspicious looking Leanne. Her hands were on her hip, her eyes narrowed at us as if making up stories of us already. I rolled my eyes and looked at Jessie.
"Ready?" i ask him, looking into his dark black eyes.
He smiled his toothy grin and nodded. "Let's get out of here."
"Wait!" Leanne yelled. We broke our eyes away from each other and looked at her. "Aren't you guys going to tell me what's going on with you two lately?"
I just smiled, "We just been close lately, like seriously, nothing is going on between us."
She rolled her eyes, "Whatever I'm just going home." She halfheartedly waved goodbye.
Jessie chuckled while i slowly moved away from him and towards the driver side. I felt his gaze on me the whole time, making a slight blush creep to my cheeks. I placed my backpack on the roof of the bug and looked for my keys. Once i found my keys, I felt someone behind me, and i knew who it was by the way i felt the warm tingles swarm through my body.
"What are you doing here Vincent?" Jessie's voice boomed.
"I came to talk with Deana, properly," his voice soft.
I turned to find him with the same longing midnight blue eyes. My heart throbbed for him, as if ready to leap from my chest into his hands. A pleading look was blending in with a pained look, making me feel unhappy and upset.
"She doesn't want to speak with you, or have anything to do with you," Jessie said as he came to my side and pushed me inside the car.
I sat there numbly, realizing that i still had the keys in my hand. The memories, that I have been avoiding for weeks now, came rushing back into my mind. I felt grief, loneliness, and emptiness. I heard yelling outside the car, and i really didn't want to deal with this insanity. I put my key into the ignition and started up my car. I sped out of the school parking lot, not a word to Jessie of where i was going. I just kept driving without a second thought.
I ended up at my house in time to see my mom about to leave.I'm guessing on another business trip.
"Oh sweetie, just in time," she muttered as she placed her suit case down. A taxi was parked in front of my house, but i didn't notice it till now. "I'm going to be gone the whole week and I left you some money to keep yourself well nourished."
I nodded at her, "Okay then i'll see you when you get back." I hugged her tightly, wishing i could tell her everything, but I knew i couldn't.
She laughed and kissed the top of my head, "I'll be back soon, and you know the rules," the taxi honked impatiently. She rolled her eyes and picked up her suitcase and left.
