My alarm clock starts screeching, making me wake up from my sleepless sleep. I reach over struggling, to turn it off. Once it shuts of, I open my crusty eyes and glance at the time. 6:45 a.m.. I sigh again and swing my legs over the edge of the bed and sit up to let the blood flow. After 10 minutes or so, i get up and stretch. "Another school day for me," I mutter.
I pick up my clothes that I laid out the night before, and jumped into the shower. The warm water relaxed my muscles and cleared my mind. I took my time washing my hair and body. Once I step out, I grab a towel and wrap it around my body. I wipe down the steam covered mirror. There i saw a girl with green emerald eyes scanning her features. She has long wavy dirty blond hair that fell to her shoulder blades. I looked nothing like my mother, but she always told me that I looked like my grandparents. Of course I never believed her.
"Deana! You're gonna be late for school!" My mom yelled up the stairs.
My name is Deana, I was named after my grandma, she died when i turned sixteen. I got dressed quickly in some black converse, regular jeans, and a black tank top with a forest green over coat. I went to my dresser and picked up a silver winged necklace that was engraved with amethyst. I always felt connected to this necklace for some reason, as if they were different like me...
"Deana!" My mom screamed interrupting my thoughts. I quickly snapped it around my neck, picked up my backpack, and ran downstairs. i grabbed my keys and a apple. My mom was at the dining table with her jet black hair in a bun, her face serious, and her outfit said nothing but business. I mean what would you expect from a business woman?
"I'm going to be gone this weekend. You know my rules." She said sternly.
"No parties, no one over, etc. Yeah mom, i know the rules front to back. No reason in repeating them." I mumbled as I washed the apple. I turned around to find her piercing brown eyes stare into mine. She was searching for something, as if i was lying.
She smiled. "Hurry up and get out of here, you're going to be late."
I smiled and twirled the keys in my hand. i pecked her on the cheek and headed out the door. In the driveway sat my 1965 green Volkswagen. What can i say? i like the classics. I unlocked the door and threw my bag to the back. I put the key into the ignition and tried starting up the car. It sputtered, not wanting to turn on. It's Friday, and my car doesn't want to work? Just great. i sighed and turned the key again, making it roar to lie.
"This is going to be a long day," I silently groaned as I backed out of the driveway, and started heading to the high school.
Once i arrived to the school, I found a parking close to the entrance. I grabbed my bag and dreadfully got out of my car. The apple was still in my hand, waiting patiently to be eaten, but sadly, i didn't want it anymore.
"Deana!" Someone yelled from behind. I turn to find my bestfriend Leanne. Her short brown hair cupped her face, matching her tom-boyish ways perfectly. She was wearing a plain black shirt, gray skinny jeans, and her favorite super hero flash shoes.
She was jogging to catch up to me. I stood patiently at the entrance of the school. When she finally caught up I hugged her. "Dude, Where is Jesse?" She asked.
I shrugged. Jesse was one of my best guy friends. Leanne never noticed, and never really cared till i did. "I don't know, but i bet you he's inside already." I suggested.
She nodded. "Alright, let's head inside before the princess gets upset." She tugged me inside towards our little corner of the cafeteria. And there he sat, Jessie.
I'm not going to lie, Jessie is pretty gorgeous, but he isn't the guy for me. His black hair was styled, so the front was pointed up with a tip.His aeropostale shirt gripped his body, so his muscles were sculptured. His jeans weren't skinny like every other guy i knew. He was different like Leanne and I. But he didn't catch my attention, but every girl is worshipping at his feet, kissing the very ground he walks on. I don't know why he chose to hang out with Leanne and I, when he can rule the whole school.
We walked past gawking girls, envious girls, and just plain out rude chicks, so we can get to out corner. Jesse had his head in homework that he must have forgotten to do. When we reached him, his head shot up, and a smile played on his lips, showing a crooked smile that made the girls faint with exasperation.
"What took you guys so long?" He questioned, his voice strong and confident.
"Traffic," I shrugged and dropped my bag on the floor, settling myself next to him.
I was the youngest out of the three of us. I'm sixteen and a junior, Leanne and Jessie are both seventeen and juniors.
"Not for me, I woke up late," Leanne says as she prepares herself to tell us her morning troubles. I didn't want to listen, I had this feeling that something was going to change. Jessie must have noticed this because his elbow jab into my rib cage. I turned to him to find him glancing at me with his gray eyes, filled with nothing but worry. I glanced back at Leanne, who was sitting right across from us, oblivious to our little conversation. I looked back towards Jessie and just shrugged. He scanned my face for some type of clue, but I gave nothing away. I just smiled at him, ready to leave, but Leanne was trying to speak to me.
"Deana. Did you even hear me?" Her voice upset that I didn't pay attention.
"Sorry I was out of it." I responded
She sighed, " what are you doing this weekend?" sounding irritated.
"My mom is going out of town this weekend." I slowly got up.
"Where are you going?" Jessie's voice filled with worry.
I honesty had no idea where i was going, but i couldn't pass this opportunity up. "Oh, you know, I'm going to go kill my self in the girl's restroom, so that the school can actually have something cool to go by." He gave me a look. "I'm just joking." But i did wanted to go somewhere. It was the office but i don't know why.
I was about to re-answer his question, but then the intercom came on, " Deana Lopez, please report to the office. Deana Lopez, please report to the office, thank you."
I smiled. "Got to go kids." I mumbled as i picked up my backpack off the floor.
I silently headed to the office without hearing no goodbyes from my friends. When I arrived at the vacant office, I wondered why i even sowed up. My stomach had this lurching feeling inside it, my heart was beating beating hard against my chest, and my knees wanted to buckle beneath me. The receptionist noticed me. "How may I help you?" her voice soft, relaxing me just slightly.
"Um I was called here." i said softly.
"You're Deana?" I just nodded in reply. "Follow me."
She got up and walked toward a hallway. I reluctantly followed. We made several turns until we made it to a busty door. She opened it then knocked. "Deana's here ma'am." the receptionist announced.
My Heart was pounding in my ears. What is making me feel like this? The receptionist gestured me inside, shutting the door behind me. I stopped at the doorway when my eyes fell on HIM.
"Deana meet Vincent."
