To say that I had no idea what to expect when I saw Dillon burst through my front door is the understatement of the century. It'd been a while since I had seen my friend that jumpy.

I made my way into the kitchen to pour her a cup of tea as well as another for myself, unable to keep the light grin off my face while she looked at me with bright eyes.

She took the tea from me and blew on it for a few moments, taking just a few sips before she set it back down on the table. Her face lit up even more intensely as she gave me the widest smile I'd ever seen.

Dill continued to stare at me in silence with the same smile on her face, making it obvious to me that she wanted me to ask her what she was so excited about.

I threw my hands up in the air in defeat, chuckling softly as I took a seat at the island in my kitchen across from her.

"Alright, I'll bite. What can I do you for, my love?"

Her facial expression softened a bit once I finally made the effort to acknowledge her, clapping her hands together with a soft squeal as she delivered the news to me.

I couldn't help but to laugh, turning my back to her as I sipped on my now warm tea and shook my head.

"The answer's no. You know damn well that I don't do parties. Not after the last one up at the lake, and the only thing good about that night was Ian being there to drive me home." I rolled my eyes a bit and heard Dill huff quietly underneath her breath.

The way she looked at me was like that of a puppy who wanted a treat even though it knew it'd just taken a piss on the carpet.

"This one won't be a rager like that, it's actually gonna be pretty lowkey and the guy who's hosting it didn't go to school with us. He's the same age as me, goes to uni upstate, and I honestly think that you'll like him. Everyone else for sure does."

She mumbled that last part underneath her breath and rolled her eyes at what she said, turning back to me and tugging at my arm a bit.

"You've gotta get out of the house sometime, Haz. Going from here to school to Ian's place to back here does NOT constitute as getting out, by the way."

The two of us laughed rather hard at her comment, knowing that she couldn't be any closer to the truth. It was a fact that I didn't really do much outside of studying and hanging out with my boyfriend on the days that I decided to have a break.

I had to take a few moments to think it over, being that the thought about going to a party didn't even sort of cross my mind after I made a fool out of myself at the last one.

Still, saying no to Dill was harder than walking barefoot across a river of lava.

I let out a deeply exaggerated sigh and turned around to face her, allowing a light smile to spread across my face.

"Fine . . . you're lucky you're so fucking adorable. If I feel the need to vomit or anything then I want out immediately. Deal?"

"Deal. It'll be the time of your life, I swear. As soon as I see you look even the slightest shade of green then we're gone," she said with a chuckle.

She grabbed me by my hand and practically dragged me upstairs into my bedroom, leaving me alone in the doorway while she immediately headed over to my closet.

It made me smile to see how excited she got while she was surfing through my dresser to try and find something to wear for both herself and me.

I decided to have a hot shower so I'd have some time to collect my thoughts before my crippling anxiety made me change my mind.
