"Look who decided to show up."
Aaliyah gave Amelia a sheepish smile, while the latter expression was impassive. "I'm so sorry, the alarm didn't go off"
The team changed into their scarlet robes and waited for Wood's usual pre-match pep talk, but it didn't come. He tried to speak several times, made an odd gulping noise, then shook his head hopelessly and beckoned them to follow him. Aaliyah walked alongside their captain, squeezing his hand reassuringly to relieve some of his tension.
The wind was so strong that they staggered sideways as they walked out onto the field. If the crowd was cheering, they couldn't hear it over the fresh rolls of thunder. She looked around, how the hell were they going to play in this storm?
The Hufflepuffs were approaching from the opposite side of the field, wearing canary-yellow robes. The Captains walked up to each other and shook hands; Diggory smiled at Oliver but Oliver now looked as though he had lockjaw and merely nodded.
"Mount your brooms"
Madam Hooch's voice was barely heard due to the swirling wind, Aaliyah squinted her eyes through the water repellent goggles that she had gotten the whole team,as she tried to read the professor's mouth. Her head jolted as the players started moving, meaning that the match had started. The wind was howling too loud, making it impossible for the young players to know the scores of the match through Lee's commentary.
The young chaser kept looking to and fro unable to see anyone properly due to the roaring wind. All she could see was the red and yellow blobs and colorful umbrellas in the stand. This astonished Aaliyah as she always believed she had a sharp eyesight. A larger scarlet blob zoomed past her, making her gasp in surprise.
"Aaliyah!?", the chaser swiftly turned her head towards the voice owner, "The Quaffle!". The brunette's head snapped in the realization that it was the quaffle that had flown past her. Getting her head in the game, in an instant, she followed the scarlet ball, after she knew she was close enough, the brunette kicked the quaffle towards a red blob, Angelina maybe. She gripped tightly on her firebolt, darting towards the goal post just in case the goal wasn't made, it appeared to her that she was right the Hufflepuff keeper had prevented Angelina's goal and the scarlet ball once again flew in the brooding storm. It was difficult to track the quaffle for both teams.
Swerving mindlessly on her firebolt, she neared the Hufflepuff goalpost and a red blob with blonde hair, Amelia, passed her the flying object, gripping firmly on the broom's edge the brunette aggressively turned on her broom aiming the quaffle into the goalpost. She could hear the faint cheers of the crowd as she gained the team their first goal, she laughed lowly yet excitedly before she flew to get the quaffle again and away from the Hufflepuff's.
After a while her ears perked up, hearing Madam Hooch's whistle being blown, she searched the sky to make sure that she had heard the high-pitched shrill noise. The witch's doubt was cleared as her fellow teammates lowering brooms.
"I called for time-out!" Wood roared at the team, "Come on, under here --"
They huddled at the edge of the field under a large umbrella; Harry took off his glasses and wiped them hurriedly on his robes.
"What's the score?"
"We're fifty points up," said Wood, "but unless we get the Snitch soon, we'll be playing into the night."
"I've got no chance with these on," Harry said exasperatedly, waving his glasses. Aaliyah scrummaged her eyes through the crowd to find Hermione, as she couldn't remember the spell that was to be used. Her mind not working from the adrenaline and also due to the weather.
At that very moment, the young girl appeared at Harry's shoulder; she was holding her cloak over her head and was, inexplicably, beaming.
"I've had an idea, Harry! Give me your glasses, quick!"
He handed them to her, and as the team watched in amazement, Hermione tapped them with her wand and said, "Impervius!"
"There!" she said, handing them back to Harry. "They'll repel water!"
Oliver looked as though he could've kissed her.
"Brilliant!" he called hoarsely after her as she disappeared into the crowd. "Okay, team, let's go for it!"
Aaliyah zoomed back up into the sky, her adrenaline pumping more through her numb veins as a sudden sense of determination flooded her brain. Out of nowhere, she could see the silhouette of the small golden ball, the snitch.
"Harry, behind you" Oliver exclaimed, the young seeker immediately flew through the wind.
The match went on, as most of them waited for Harry to catch the golden snitch. Chills ran through Aaliyah's body as the amount of cold intensified, and the atmosphere became gloomy, her skin paled in realization as she jerked her head upwards, Harry.
Her instincts kick in, without thinking twice she zoomed in the young boy's direction. Her right hand traveled to her boots, as her left hand balanced her on the flying stick. She gripped the edge of her wand, but before she could pull it out, she could see the nimbly falling figure of Harry. She sped up in the boy's direction, her previous actions slipping out of her brain. Before her hands could catch, or even touch him, a dementor stood ahead of her, their hidden faces pointing up at her were standing beneath her. It was as though freezing water were rising in her chest, cutting her insides. Her eyes rolled up as she heard faint yells of a man, he was in anguish and trying to get her. She could see his blur figure, his black hair sprawled, as few strands stuck to the side of his face.
"No..no!, please let her go!"
She tried running towards him, but someone held her by the waist, preventing her movements. No, I have to get to him.
"She's just a child!" he panickily yelled, fear flooding his grey-blue eyes, "please" his voice broke.
The brunette's body pummeled to the drenched ground. The voice fading in her brain. She tried opening her eyes, but she had a gut feeling that she was about to hit the ground.
