Beam POV
"Please come back to me..."
I did not enter the private ward of the hospital, where I work as a staff nurse, anymore when I heard Tian's voice. My knees buckled from out of nowhere. Before I knew it, tears fell from my eyes. If a tear did not flow down my hand, I wouldn't even notice that I was still holding the doorknob.
I gently pulled the door to a close and stared blankly at it. I stopped myself from sobbing right then and there. I was still on duty and for sure, our head nurse will inquire about it if she sees me with reddish eyes. I took breaths to calm myself down. With one last sigh, I gave out a smile in front of the close wooden door.
"It took you long enough..." I verbalized though I knew that Tian won't be able to hear me. I walked back to the Nurses' station and met with Misty, P'Kris, and Anita, other members of our friend circle.
When they saw me, they immediately reflected expressions of concern. I gave them a wry smile before shaking my head to tell them not to proceed. I was sure they were going to the private ward where I came from.
"He's finally here..." P'Kris said with teary eyes. Her voice showed a mix of relief and concern for me.
I answered her with another smile. My tears flowed down my cheek again but I didn't mind them. Hell, I won't mind what people will think about me anymore. I've always known this day would come. I've prepared myself for a long time for this eventuality but I was still powerless to brave the pain.
"I'm so evil..." I choked. Well, it's true. I was just being honest. "I wanted him to die..." I added before I finally broke down in sobs. The sound of the falling clipboard to the floor echoed as I cried hard. I can't even look at them because I don't want to see their reactions.
One of our closest friends almost died and there I was wishing that he was dead. I am such a bad person.
My sobs turned to full blown wails when the three girls rushed to hug me. I felt the trembling of their bodies as they cried too. One part of those tears were for the joy that Tian finally found his balls to come to P'Phupha. But on the other end, it's the flash point that P'Phupha will leave me to be with Tian again. He finally made a choice and now that Tian was back, I will not be that choice.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching us. When we turned to the direction of its source, we found a crying but smiling Tian. "He's awake..."
I don't know which counted more: the relief that finally P'Phupha woke up from coma after three months; or the reality that with the same new, my world came tumbling down. Tian was back, the one that had always owned P'Phupha, and I needed to return him to his owner even if it hurts me that like hell.
"Don't let him go this time..." I answered him before walking away.
I smiled bitterly while my mind got transported back into the past where everything started.
Flashback...
It was P'Phupha's 25th birthday celebration when I first met Tian. Actually, I was not that close with P'Phupha yet at that time but he just let me join his circle anyway. I heard about him for a long time when I was still in the university but that's it, he's just a story. I only met him because we have some mutual friends in the form of Anita and Misty.
We didn't really gave the same circle of friends to begin with aside from the aforementioned ladies. But perhaps because he was mostly friends with the so called "intellectual elite" in campus, that he became popular among the students. Besides, he's two years older than me and we belong in different faculties.
That's why I was complete taken by surprise when I learned that P'Phupha was quite a prankster in person. He's jolly and approachable. At the campus, he had this air of intimidation. I mean, he had all the right to be given his looks and intellectual prowess.
I do admit that at first, I envied P'Phupha because he's always surrounded by people and they seemed to genuinely like him. Also, I had a crush on him. I told him that fact when we first met but he just laughed at me.
"I'm honored. But as for them, I am one of their biggest competition. It's only natural that they keep me close," He said which I didn't understand at that time. For some reason, my brain seemed to short-circuit when I'm talking to him. His gaze and smile can do that to you.
"You have to learn how to play the game," He added before he went back to entertaining his other guests. He even winked at me and I swooned secretly.
It was like watching an original and a parody copy of P'Phupha. He would be formal and composed to those around him. But among his carefully chosen few, he would do the silliest and goofiest things.
That's why being shocked was an understatement when Anita and I arrived at the venue for his party. I jaw dropped upon witnessing the chaos of the place. P'Phupha was so handsome despite wearing a fitted shirt and jeans. The look was completed with slippers. It was like he was just at home.
"You came!" Phi greeted Anita and I in glee then gave us a hug each. I was instantly flustered. There I was being hugged by the hunky and handsome P'Phupha. He had unkempt hair which made him more rugged looking. He'd always look like some prince charming when he's formal. But he darn it, he looked much more appealing when he's down and dirty, like some bad bad boy who will just suddenly push you to a wall and fuck you mercilessly.
"I just might phi if you won't let go of me!" I said in jest but he just laughed.
"Why choose me if there are plenty of fishes in the sea?" He said with a smile then darted his eyes around before he fixated on me while moving his brows up and down.
I looked around and my eyes bulged at being surrounded by the most beautiful male specimens. Gorgeous men everywhere inside the bar! Some of them had equally beautiful girls with them but of course, I was more interested with the men.
"Some of them are straight while some are playing it straight so choose wisely," Phi warned like some kind of game show host.
