Unlikely Suitor

Beam POV

A week after that, I was shocked when Tian suddenly visited me in the hospital. My jaw dropped even more when he invited me out to dinner.

"What's up?" I asked him directly. I've never been one to beat around the bush.

It was apparent that he was waiting for the question because we was smiling brightly. My knees turned to jelly. He had that kind of effect on me.

"I'm asking you out on a date," he replied nonchalantly which made me dumbfounded as well as my fellow nurses in the station. All my co-workers knew my sexual preference so the fact that a devilish crooner was asking me out on a date at broad daylight gave them quite a shock.

But instead of being impressed, my ego hit me with a dose of reality. I remembered how he looked at P'Phupha before. Even if he was the Great Demon of Lust in human form, I will not fall under his trickery. I don't have any plans to be a hole putty.

T/N: In PH, we have a euphemism: "Panakip butas" or hole putty. It's a person being used as a rebound after a failed relationship.

"You are barking at the wrong tree mister. Better luck net time! Goodbye!" I dismissed him before turning around. 

But that didn't stop the devil from trying to win me over. Tian literally stopped by the hospital everyday. I contemplated on having him banned from the premises. If my co-workers didn't threaten me that they'll inject me with poison if I ever do that, I would've done so. He took things further and flooded me with calls and messages. What's more, he also visited me at our house with flower and chocolates in hand.

My mother, who was the one who felt all giddy, had the gal to tell me, "Beam, don't be choosy. Come on! I give you my blessings to flirt and fornicate!" She even had the gal to say this in front of Tian. I'm not exactly sure if she was supportive or she had some screw loose.

I got fed up one time after night duty and found y mother and Tian cooking breakfast in the kitchen. I quickly pulled Tian by the arm towards my room intent and talking to him mano y mano.

But my crazy mother slipped a pack of condom under my bedroom door followed by a sachet of lube. I swear! I will have her buried alive! Ugh! Then, my blood rushed to my brain when I saw Tian began stripping. I was so pissed that I just let him do what he wanted until he was down to his briefs. When looked at me with his dastardly smile, I just raised a brow. What an assuming jerk!

"Do you think of me as some kind of pet that you can drag around and command in your every whim?" I said rabidly which made him blush.

But honestly, I was at the last strand of my sanity. Just a little bit more, I'd probably let myself me dragged. But of course, self-control. Nothing good comes from libido-fueled decisions. Though my eyes came back and forth to his chocolate looking nipples, my crotch turned crazy when I got a look at the package that his briefs was guarding.  Goodness!

"But--"

"But wait there's more!" I beat him into the punchline.

He was dumbstruck and became unsure if he should pick up his clothes then wear them again. He looked at me confused while scratching his head.

DAMN! He had the sexiest pits I have ever seen. Bushy but doesn't look smelly. I had the urge to bury my whole face on it.

"Behave!" I scolded myself mentally before looking at him directly in the handsome face. It was still distracting but much more manageable for me.

"Put your arm down because it's distracting me!" I said which made him grin. "Let's make things clear here. First of all, what about P'Phupha?"

His smile suddenly vanished.

Bullseye! Though there was a slight pinch in my heart. I mean, he's been bugging me for two months, you can't really expect me not assume that he truly had a thing for me.

"Second, what is your true objective? You do realize that if you continue doing this: talking to me day and night; coming to my workplace; cooking with my mom and all; I will get attached to you. Even if I don't intend to, there's a high chance that I will. So before this goes on any further, clarify what you really want to happen. Are you going to make me fall for you then you'll leave me hanging after? Don't make me fall in love with you without stating your true intentions because I tell you, I'm starting to go there." My long litany. 

Tian was speechless while staring at me. But I saw past his face, there were uncertainties behind his handsomeness. It's also probably the reason why, even though I tried, I started falling for him each and every day that he made an effort to woo me. He's the type to be cared for and loved deeply.

"Is it really that bad to fall in love with me?" He asked softly in the saddest of tone. I knew it's the same question he had for P'Phupha but was unable to voice it out.

"It is if you can't love me for just me." I replied in a calm and soft manner. "I'm not P'Phupha, Tian. And I have no plans to be him for you. It's already hard enough for me to get a decent boyfriend. But I'm not going to be someone else's replacement to add insult to injury." I stated as I picked up his clothes and threw it at him.

When I opened the door, my mother fell onto my chest as she was eavesdropping. I shook my head and left the house without commenting anything. I hailed a taxi and asked to be transported to Anita's place. She didn't ask anything when I arrived and went straight to her room then took a spot on her bed. We were too busy with work to catch-up so she was not updated on Tian's courting me. And at that time, exhaustion came over me first. I dozed off as soon as I got comfortable on her bed.

It's already past noon when I woke up. And because I was in no mood to work I just informed the hospital. I was not really one to be a frequent no-show so our management just gave me a 3-day emergency leave. I didn't want to go home yet so I just told Anita that I'll stay with her for a few days. She agreed, no questions asked. Anyway, it was the weekend so she had 2-days off.

When Anita suddenly raised the idea to go on a beach trip, I didn't hesitate at all. I really wanted to get away for a moment and contemplate on my true feelings for Tian. Yes it's just two months of courting but it still touched me.

My mistake was I didn't ask who else did you invited to join us. So when we arrived at the resort, I was shell-shocked to see P'Kris, Misty, P'Phupha, and Forth there. My eyes grew even bigger when I saw Tian too, who obviously sleep deprived. I truly wanted to slap Anita right in the face but I remember, she doesn't know anything like John Snow.

I thought Tian will approach me but good thing he didn't. I was not sure what my mouth might blurt out. 

But there came P'Kris, stating the obvious of the obvious drama in there midst. " I don't like the dynamics. So before you two kill each other, out with it. Spill." She said authoritatively while looking at Tian and me back and forth.

I looked at my feet, unable to speak. I felt P'Phupha's gaze directed at me. I think those feelings were called "guilt".

"I'm courting him," Tian nonchalantly announced which shocked everyone.
