1 week later
after that night, everything was even worse than it ever was. yeonjun and soobin now shared a room, which made things so hard for both of them. since yeonjun didn't like heights, soobin agreed to take the top bunk without yeonjun even mentioning his fear. yeonjun just assumed that soobin didn't want to bother him and cause an argument or something, in his mind he was thankful that soobin wanted to get the top bunk.
after soobin moved in, it was like torture. yeonjun almost never left the practice room because he didn't want to see soobin. if the practice room was busy, he would just find a vocal room or go to the company's backyard to sit by himself and write songs. he rarely talked to the members, it was like the years of bond he worked so hard to have with them just disappeared within a couple of days since they were too busy hanging out with the new member.
the three boys knew yeonjun for a long time, and they could clearly see something was bothering him. and they knew to leave him alone when he was like this, he would always come back on his own when he's ready anyways.
however, beomgyu wasn't comfortable letting yeonjun just hang by himself for days, he was on his mind constantly and he was worried for him. beomgyu also knew about yeonjun's past with depression, that's why he was getting worried so much. but whenever he tried to go and talk to the boy, yeonjun would just say he was okay, put on a fake smile that wasn't very convincing and act like nothing was going on.
while all of this was going on, soobin was trying to catch up to the group, it had been a long time since he seriously practiced and he was going to have to work a lot to catch up to the group's level. he was practicing day and night, going from lesson to lesson. it was more exhausting than he had imagined, but he still found the motivation to keep going somehow.
especially huening kai, the group's youngest, seemed to get along very well with him, soobin also really liked him as well. he was cuter and younger than him, but he was very talented and had a lot of potential. soobin thought to himself,
"he reminds me of yeonjun when he was his age. i can't wait to see this boy's full potential."
since both yeonjun and soobin were working so much, they didn't even see each other except when it was bed-time. most of the time, yeonjun would be the first one to go to sleep so soobin wouldn't even see him at all. this was both great and awful. because soobin wanted to talk to him, ask him about the past years without him, and overall just talk. he was missing the days they would sit down and talk for hours, just laugh and not worry about anything. it felt like those days were so far away from them now.
when that night soobin finally finished his practice and went to his room, yeonjun was surprisingly awake. he'd be sleeping at this time most of the time, so this caught soobin by surprise. when he came into the room, yeonjun got up from his bed, almost like he was waiting for him to come, with a notebook in his hands.
it was just like the day when yeonjun wrote his first song when they were trainees, it was the same notebook he was holding and he had the same hopeful look on his face.
"hey, um.. do you have five minutes?"
soobin looked at him without understanding, but shrugged his shoulders and walked towards the other one.
"make it quick."
damn, you didn't have to be so mean, yeonjun thought to himself.
"so, remember when- oh... never mind haha!" he laughed nervously after saying that, he somehow forget the whole reason soobin was so different. it was very awkward for both of them.
"just... when we were trainees back then, we would always show each other the songs we wrote and ask for some feedback you know. i wanted to ask you because even though you don't remember me, i still trust your opinion a lot."
