Maybe half an hour later you were attempting to help clear some of the glass shards from the floor. A few people had, in a rush, slipped and fell on it cutting themselves. Not horribly but it was bad enough you had just asked someone where a broom closet was and got started sweeping it all into large piles out of the way. You yourself were lucky you'd chosen to wear close toed shoes or you surely would have cut yourself at least once.
You were nearly done as a certain red haired male burst through the front doors, accidentally shattering the already cracked glass. "Kiri! I just finished cleaning up this mess!" You gesture broadly to the glass piles. He gives you a sheepish grin, but you don't miss the small hint of relief that flashes across his face. "Yes I'm fine and so is Angel she's just, you know come to think of it I don't know where she is." You glance around but don't spot the blonde. A hint of worry worms it's way into you. She was fine the last you saw her. Surely nothing could have happened in the span of a few minutes.
"Kirishima! Shouldn't you be out, you know saving people?" You hear the chipper voice of Angel. Relieve washes over you as you see her exit a hallway of to the side of the room.
"There's not much I'm needed for right now. Bakubro and midoriya have everything pretty much handled along with the police." Angel nods, and as she does this you notice how Kirishima seems to glow as he watches her. Maybe it wasn't love but it sure was some sort of attraction between the two.
You take over sweeping by the doors and leave the two to chat quietly with each other. For a moment you saw yourself, a younger version of yourself with Katsuki. It was so easy to remember the first civil conversation you had with him.
It was hard but you'd finally beaten Katsuki. The one and only time you'd ever bested him in a fight. You attempted to reach out a hand to help him up but he quickly smacked it away. You had expected this much so you only pulled your hand away.
"You didn't win you know." He stated brushing of his hero costume. You stifle a sigh at his stubbornness.
"Ok sure keep telling yourself that." He shoots you a glare that said many things varying from go to hell, and, fuck you. As annoying as he was you couldn't help but be drawn to the asshole. You'd barely had a normal conversation with him before. Now at least you sparred together every now and then and sometimes, though very rarely, you could fish out a compliment. But it was always something like "that wasn't bad for hundredth time you tried it", or "it wasn't shitty, but you could still do better."
They were few and far between but they seemed genuine when he did dare to say it. "I'm starved, wanna go get something to eat before heading back to the dorms?" This was your subtle way of testing the waters with him. He was being civil but you wanted to see how friendly he was willing to be with you.
"Only if your dumbass is paying." You held back on jumping with joy at his sort of yes.
When you'd finally settled on where to eat, you had both ended up at a simple deli. The sandwich you had was good so it was a win for you.
"So, what do you like to do for fun?" He stared at you as if you'd smacked him square across the face.
"The fuck do you think?" Not the answer you wanted but it was an answer nonetheless.
"Besides being ass." He seemed annoyed but you could almost see the hint of amusement on his face.
"That's just about it." Holy shit. You swore to yourself. He was actually having some form of a conversation with you.
"Is that really all there is? Surely there's a really nice guy under that, asshole mask." You weren't even sure if you believed your own statement.
"Now your pushing you're luck dumbass." Dumbass. The word rang through your head. Of course it was term you were used to coming out of his mouth but the way he said it this time, it seemed different somehow. Like there was some meaning to it that couldn't be seen or heard, but felt.
The memory is cut short by a shake in earth. You readied yourself to duck under something again, but this time it was just an aftershock. Strong but short, so it was done just as soon as it started. You loosed a breath and at the same moment caught Angel grabbing onto kirishimas arm. She blushed immediately and pulled her hand away.
It took you a moment to realize you'd backed into the shattered glass doors and had cut yourself. It was a small cut on your arm so it wasn't bad. Though it was bleeding more than you'd like.
You had let Kirishima and Angel know about it and excused yourself. You headed for the nearest bathroom and took some paper towels pressing them to the cut. The bleeding stopped fairly quickly so you examined the cut. It was indeed very small so no need for stitches or anything dramatic.
Though as you turn to leave your vision is ripped from you in near seconds. A cloth of some sort had been slapped onto your eyes. Before you can react whoever it was had both of your hands pinned behind you slamming you face first into the tile flooring. Pain seared through your cheek where it had cracked upon impact.
"You son of a bitch. I'll fucking kill y-" A fist harshly collided with your face and your other cheek made a horrible cracking sound. Now after being hit in the face twice it was a chore just to keep awake. You tried to push away the fogginess that pressed in on you. You made yourself aware of your surroundings. Of the person pinning you down. The cold tile beneath you, the ragged breath of the person who dared to fuck with you.
Despite being fully aware of everything, you couldn't force your eyes to open after you swore you just needed to blink once. Just blink and they'd open again. But they didn't.
